I'm currently in the market for a new bat, probably up to £200, but willing to stretch to £250 if necessary. Currently own a Chase Volante and played with it this season, and for the past two I used an Adidas Pellara. Personally I preferred the middle and the middle position on my Pellara to the Volante. So ideally my preference would be a mid middle, certainly not a low one like the Volante.
I've seen a couple at Barringtons that I like:
- Pellara Pro
(http://i41.tinypic.com/35lglf5.jpg)
- Bionic 4000 (though I'm thinking of going up to the 5000, no pic for the 5000 though)
Both are a 2lb 9oz. So around that weight would be ideal. Just wondering what people think of Puma bats, having never owned one, nor seen anyone on my team use one (we've got a lot of GMs, Kooks and Slaz)?
Unfortunately my local(ish) cricket shops didn't have anything that tempted me. But due to having two decent(ish) seasons with my last Pellara, then I thought going for a new one might be a good idea; though the Puma also caught my eye and love its profile. That said, any other suggestions for bats with a similar profile to this would be greatly welcomed, or any advice in general.
Thanks

Did you go into barringtons and take those photos or did you get them sent to you over email mate?

Emailed the store. If I had the time during the week I'd drive to the store to check them out, but working 5 days, then playing both at the weekend leaves me no time :D

Okay mate. Just wondering as i work there. I'll message you on here tomorrow with some options, we've got a few bats in stock which are nicer than those for the price!

Thanks, I'd really appreciate that. :)
Are the pics okay to be on here?

Yeh no problem why they shouldn't be :)

Just out of curiosity what will you do with the chase when you get a new bat mate??
-
If you wait a few weeks there will be some massive savings in the end of season sales, PDC already have a Puma Karbon 6000 for £150

Doorstop probably :D
Though ideally I'll look to sell it.

Please stop, I don't need a new Puma bat with matching gloves, but for thy price I may well be tempted! (My credit car company must love this forum!)

I may be interested in buying it if its in twig weight and not too expensive mate :)

The Volante is a 2lb 8oz bat. It's an R4. No idea what a second hand bat is worth, but it's available anytime. I've got my original stuart surridge jumbo to use for the remaining games (waa my dad's), and it's still a beast all these years on.
And know the feeling. I see something new and get tempted, always nice to get a treat, then the bill comes :D

Hi there.
I used to have a top of the range Newbery Mjolnir - and to this day I curse the moment it snapped into three, unrepairable pieces :(. Any bat from the Newbery superbrand will serve you incredibly well. :)
Currently, I use two bats. A 2'10 RNS Larson Unik G1 and a 2'8 CA 12000 Dilshan. Both are really fantastic sticks but I take the time to personally choose my own, take the time to test them out and prepare them myself to give them the best chance. You honestly can't underestimate the personal aspect - without it, I'd never have even looked at a RNS Larson... Now I really, really, really want another! (Though can't find anyone selling!)
Good luck with your search! :D

There has been a few threads like this recently.
As was discussed in most of the others, if you contact a forum sponsor they will be more than happy to sort you out.
I also mentioned a small company called Vanquish who I purchased a bat from for £110.00 in an end of season sale (see post"my new weapon") and the bat I got from them looks better than any of the photos from Barrington so maybe give them a shout?
Failing that I am more than confident that you can speak to a sponsor who can send you some great bats too.

I have a Puma Cobalt 5000 and I love it!
The Bionic may have a different profile because it is Made in India, possibly more flatter edges. Whereas the Cobalt I have is Made in England
and has rounder edges. Lots of concaving though.

Thanks for the heads up about Vanquish. Going to have a look at their website now.
I have been looking at the sponsor companies and I really like the the Robert Pack and Red Ink bats. I'm seriously considering a Bombora or New Wave bat of theirs.
Outside of that, I spent a lot of time today looking at and trying 'big brand' bats and personally none of them jumped out at me. Of those I tried today the one that impressed me the most was a Newbery Thruxton, but that bat was their top of the range and is more than I am willing to spend at the minute - though Paul at its just cricket has sent me pictures of two beautiful bats which are under serious consideration.
So at the minute my short list includes Robert Pack, Newbery, and perhaps a Chase Lancer. Fingers crossed I'll make my mind up eventually. Thanks for the help guys! :D

Think you can get a newbery thruxton 5* for £100 (unless their offer has expired)
Chase make lovely bats, and the Lancer is a lovely shape (I have the Beluga, same bat shape with old stickers) and I love it. Had a finback previously which may be worth considering.
As for the others you're considering I've not tried them so can't give my opinion haha
