No Carberry on his home pitch. That's a joke!!
Just what does he need to do to get in this team? Hussain was not happy on Sky said he had no idea how Root gets in ahead of him.

Simple truth is they are planning for the future. Carbs is 30-odd so only a short term fix. They want to give Root as much exposure as possible.

May not be fairest, but they are looking at cricket as a whole long term plan I guess.

Shame really, would like to see him play.

Root will never ever ever be a top class T20 player. Yes Carberry is 32 so if he's not going to play and they building for the future then don't pick him in the first place. Makes me mad!!
Oh I can see why Root got picked instead as he's the back up spinner - 1 over 27 runs   I rest my case!!!!!!

Is it just me or are England absolutely clueless in regard of where to bowl? They are getting smashed every where and are bowling either length or short!

No Yorkers no change of pace of angle to bowl just bowling completely pants.

Fair play to Aus thought Finch and now Watson are hitting very well.

Have to agree with some of the points above....

Carberry shouldn't be in the squad if he isn't going to play. England like to have the youngsters in and around the set up before they play so pick another youngster to be a squad player.

The bowling was nothing short of ridiculous. Don't get me wrong you still have to hit it and Finch was simply on a different level of clean hitting. However, when you bowl plenty short or length at him then it gives him chance to throw his hands through the ball. When he got to about 130 they showed the pitch map. 1 yorker....need we say anymore? Bowling coach might be having a chat with the bowlers to find out what their plan was.

Don't worry everyone Root's in!
He should make up for his over by about the 10th over.

Yeah, only made up for it at a strike rate of about 200.

There is more ways to score quickly than smashing it out of the ground.

Think England should be looking at dropping Morgan or Bopara before Root.

Thought root batted very well - good to see him operating in a non test mode. Carbs should have been playing instead of someone else though, season he has had...

Time to learn some yorkers England!

Morgan hasn't been able to buy a run all season, drop him for the run machine that is Carbs, simple!

I eat my words, well done Joe Root. Carbs still should have played though.

The bowlers let us down more often than the batting. They never seem to have a plan most of the time.

There are several batting slots Carbs could fill. I would look at Lumb as, to me, he never gets a big score he just consistently gets between 10 and 30.

I think Aus showed that age shouldn't be a reason not to pick somebody....our young "future stars" didn't show up whereas Rogers was a rock...

No Carbs again. Very disappointing!

Is it me or does Mitchell Johnson look like the psycho prisoner in The Green Mile!
