Sudeep, you are a legend - these bats are ridiculously good! :)
Introducing... ST Cricket Bats, including a 22-grain stunner!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxGEOhFUY5s#)
-
How much for the 22 grain bat Paul?? That is some serious bat porn!
-
Lovely looking bats not keen on the branding (sorry) but the willow looks awesome
-
£250 - bargain of the century! :)
-
Does the ST refer to the legendary batsman or to Sudeep's name? That 22 grainer looks stunning, along with the others.

Sudeep's name. There is a Sachin shaped bat amongst the three though, to make it even more confusing! I think it's the 22-grainer, but will confirm tomorrow...
-
Mmmmm they do look nice. Ok, I better not watch the video... ;)
-
Right well I've watched the videos... Just out of interest Paul, what are the weights of the other 2 bats?
-
Wow they look beautiful, the branding looks great to me looks class . Its good to see a stockist like IJC stocking more small brands not just the stock standard, it adds variety and gives more bat options to the club cricketer. congrats Sudeep and ijc

Vincent, they are 2.8 and 2.13. the 2.13 is the Distinction/Tempo shape. I believe the 2.8 is Michael Clarke shape. Proper info to follow tomorrow, and will get them all added to our website then too...
-
22-grainer sold pending payment...
-
Bloody hell - thats fast, I can't even see the pics!
-
Don't worry, Bruce, there are still two left: including the Alpine, which has a profile shape that I know you like, and much less expensive than some of the alternatives on the market... ;)
Both bats have been uploaded to our website now. Thanks to Sudeep's excellent photography, the photos we've used are actual ones of the bats for sale: http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/st-m52 (http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/st-m52)

Hi Paul. So the 2.8 is a 20/20 style bat with a slightly longer handle and shorter blade?
-
That Alpine looks magic.

Hi Paul. So the 2.8 is a 20/20 style bat with a slightly longer handle and shorter blade?
Correct. It is actually slightly shorter in length than a short handle bat too (But bigger than a harrow). Will illustrate this properly in the video next week...
-
Thanks Paul. My wallet just breathed a sigh of relieve! ;)
Looking forward to seeing the video all the same.
-
Great stuff paul
congrats sudeep
-
Thank you all!

Thank you Paul for you this detailed review!
ST Samurai Cricket Bat (with 22 grains!) Review (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-syJlYr7v1M#)

Why do straight grains going through the toe of the bat mean great performance as stated on the video mate

They don't.
However if the grains go straight through the toe a bat is less likely to split. If a grain is going off at angle it is more prone to splitting along the grain ..... That's what a master craftsman told me
-
Paul, What weight and price is the H4L hellfire pro in the background of the video. Its a lovely looking bat! PM me if you can

I think he went down to Salix, where Kember said that normally, bats with grains which run straight through the toe generally perform better or something along those lines. Maybe it's because it's more durable, like Garrett says, and bats generally get better with time.
-
The analogy I have been given by a bat maker was that of a foundation of a building. If the grains runs straight, the foundation is completely secure, if not, it's not. The exact reasons why this is the case is beyond my limited knowledge.
But Chad is right about AJK - he told me that this was a very good sign and always something to look out for with a top performing bat. I think he actually says this on our Salix hand-picking video if anyone wants to check.
-
I think for every theory about bat performance, there's a bat that defies that theory.

Paul,
I liked the ST Samurai profile. Are you gonna get more of this profile bat from Sudeep? I'm captivated to get one of these.
Thank,
Jay

Hi Jay, yes, we will - but I can't promise 22 grains on the next one! :) I am sure it will still be an absolute gun of a bat though - I love the Samurai shape! :) But maybe we should concentrate on your Newbery Tour first, eh?! ;)

Yes, that is correct. I just couldn't resist the urge to get one more bat!! :-[
