Title: The reality-is-not-as-good-as-the-hype but can give a viable alternative thread
Post by: Cowcorner on September 02, 2013, 11:37:25 PM
Given my recent double disappointment with 2013 Kookaburra K Players gloves and my subsequent recommendation of 2012 Kahuna 1000 gloves as being better quality, I was wondering if anyone else had any other such revelation where a piece of purportedly flagship kit was usurped by a piece of allegedly lower-in-the-range kit?
While we're at it we might save a few pounds too! :D

Heard it said on the forum that the GM 606/707/808 are the best value for money bats in the range.

Same with Newbery 5 star bats plenty good enough for most and a lot cheaper than the sps or players range.

Seen some really cheap GNs in Sportsdirect. 4* etc. for around £70 or less.

GMs lower(ish) end models are my favourites. If you can tap them up before you buy, or even just buy based on grains then the 606 models up can be real gems.
As for a smaller brand, Chase produce cracking bats for £125 (at the time I bought it).

The Woodstock Gold I bought has more ping than a Chinesse phone book, but not sure if it falls into this category price wise.

I went in to a shop to buy aero p1 strippers, but ended up with p2's as I felt they were more comfortae and less cumbersome

We don't stock P1 by and large, simply for this reason. Also the likelihood of most of facing the speed of delivery they are rated for is slim.
