Afternoon Guys
I recently purchased a new bat, so I am not particularly looking for a new one. However, I played against a guy on sat who used a LEKKA and it seemed like a lovely bat. I thought these guys had disappeared from the market but they must be back?
Anyone used one? or ever dealt with these guys?

Don't think they have ever disappeared from the market. The owner is based in Thailand, used to source from India and TK for his bats. Not everbody gets his humour, and upset a few on here and got banned.

I have one in sale section

tried tio look at this and got an error...
The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.
not sure why

so where are they actually based?
To be fair they look indian.. nothing wrong with that of course.
Are they decent bats or?
-
Bats could be English, could be Indian, could be Pakistani, could be Canadian, could be "European" who knows - it is what ever mood he is in.
The pricing structure seems to be wild and varied and, to be honest made up on the spot.
If you approach him with a budget, you will get a decent product and you will be looked after fine, but a Lekka bat wouldn't be my first point of call.

It's in the for sale section. You need a certain amount of posts to view that section.

the one in SALE section is made in UK

I'd echo buzzes comments, I've had three. i12breakfree has one of them, and the other two were English from a very well known maker, which was excellent, and also from Pakistan, which died a couple of weeks ago after a year's use. You generally get decent quality, but I wouldn't necessarily choose them over other makers.

He has a very checkered past. Can't see him changing.
There are a few people on here who used to be his agents/suppliers and no longer want anything to do with him.
One of them was so very kind to offer to repair a Lekka bat which has a quality issue even though we both know he wasn't the one to supply it and it's beyond any reasonable warranty. Problem is when I came to take him up on his offer he no longer replied to my mails while still happily posting on here.
Interested to see where it broke, any pictures, i have had three of them and they are all belters, i did break a handle on one of them after a year but as we all know handles can just go

He did indeed lose out, as did others.
Its a real shame as a number of people lost more than they could afford to!
I don't pretend to know James as well as some others but I have spoken to him in the past and have traded plenty of emails.
I have not found him too bad and he has his good traits. But he has had a few chances on the forum but always ends up misbehaving and we have all seen him wind people up.
I have had 4 Lekka bats - 2 have been very good bats whereas the other 2 have been ordinary.
Reason for inconsistency? I genuinely believe that because he has had several batmakers, there have been differences in quality!
Therefore some have been great and others have been less so!

The story about the Thai batmaker with the angle grinder is my favourite.
I liked James was a tad aloof but he was decent with me

PM sent.

I have never used a LEKKA bat, but James has always been civil with me.
I think he used to source TK bats through another former high profile poster, but as mentioned, also had other suppliers from different sources.
It is a pity he is banned from here...I always found him to be OK.

Why was he banned??

I'm sorry, but this is INSANITY!
The guy is an absolute fool.
Look at these screenshots I've taken from his Facebook posts!
Firstly, he copies the Nemesis style completely but with poor finishing and willow, demanding $2500, WHAT?!
Then, he makes a bat saying it is the best bat he's ever finished and wants $5000 for it?
It has permanent marker written all over the face for a start!
The guy is crazy, especially with his fake friend commenting that he will buy every bat he posts for the ridiculous prices.

The forum's very own Rowan, also sent me this image from his page..

I think he just has a Wierd sense of humour. And non off that is serious.
As for the "angle grinder" pic. Pretty sure that's a da polisher. Look very similar to an angle grinder, I have one to polish my car, you put velcrod pads on it to sand/polish.
Also that bat is in it wrapped plastic, so it's clearly a set up picture,

James revells in being unusual, provocative and getting reactions out of people.
The trick is to take it all with a huge pinch of salt and don't bite.
Sadly by the look of the comments on the pics and a few previous comments on the forum, a few haven't worked him out yet.
He can be a bit of a nightmare on the email - but he is the original example of 'Don't feed the Troll'
I wish I had his contacts and money - but without the erratic drinking behaviour.
................oh! Wait a minute

We would all like to be a penny behind him mate, but after a few fizzy pops we are all alike ;)

There is only one thing worse that being talked about and that is not being talked about I suppose.
Recently a Lekka bat had a quality issue. I contacted James and he said the bat was a fake when it definitely isn't. I think he still has to work on his customer support skills.
So when he's good, he's very very good. When he's bad, you wish you went somewhere else.

I'm glad you found him ok. To chat to he is ok.
But to moderate on a forum I'm afraid he is high maintenance and causes all kinds of issues and runs people up the wrong way.
He is too outspoken and not diplomatic - especially on the forum!
Therefore he was banned, and that's the way it's staying.
