Morning People,
I sweat bucket loads when batting and frankly ruin my gloves very quickly. I've tried both sorts of inners in the past but never found them comfortable as I felt I lost control and feel for the bat. I haven't worn them for a good few years - until Saturday....
I thought I would Try wearing fingerless inners ..... I hit 147no (my first hundred) I'm a guy who is full of superstition so now I think I'm going to wear them all the time.
Who else wears inners? What sort? What's your pros and cons?
I only have small hands but have found myself using 2 grips and now inners.

Always fingerless, tried the fingered ones but they didn't feel right
-
I don't, just didn't like the feel of them.
But always keep a pair when lending new gloves to friends!
-
I used to use them at school but found after changing the type of gloves I used at 17 the inners rubbed so I stopped. This season however after a couple of 90mins plus in the middle I got some blisters and I'm going to look into getting some fingerless ones ready to try out in the nets.
Blistered hands when batting the following weeks were not fun.

do make gloves last longer but defintely not as comfy
-
I have always worn full finger inners since I started playing so its feels odd not to wear them. I don't have a problem with comfort or grip either.

I saw this and thought of you :-[

Always use fingerless
-
I usually bat without inners when the weather is decent and on a hot humid day go for a fingerless one as I usually just sweat at my palms. I used full fingers on a few occassions sometime back, though comfortable and without any issue of grip slipping, still have an unnatural feel to it which isn't there with fingerless one.
-
I've worn inners for batting since day one as a school cricketer. My hands sweat a lot, so the idea of protecting my batting gloves has always felt like a good idea for me. I actually feel uncomfortable if I bat without inners now.
-
Never worn them, ever. I guess you don't miss what you've never had...
-
I never used to wear them but bought some on a whim in the winter last year and haven't looked back since. I sweat quite a bit and the longer I'd bat, the more difficult keeping hold of the bat would become as sweat accumulated in the palms of my gloves making them slippery. To combat this, I used to have two pairs of gloves but this season since I use the inners I have only ever had to change gloves once and that was on a seriously hot day.
-
I wear them purely for the 'snug' fit. I have been toying with the idea of wearing Small Mens/ Youth sized gloves. Wouldn't say my hands are small just like them to feel snug. No issues with sweating etc.
-
I like my gloves to be a good fit, but I found when wearing small men's gloves it felt like my hands were constricted.
-
I only wear full finger inners, they give a good fit and I feel more comfortable wearing them.
-
I used to wear them. For a few reason.
One my coach said they stop the sweat ruining leathers.
Two cos when I was young I had used adult gloves and wanted the, too fit better.
When I was about 20 I ripped my only pair and it felt so umcomfy so binned them. That innings I felt so much more in control in the bat, I'd like I could really feel what was happening.
Haven't used them since!
-
I think they feel funny! I wear youths gloves, mainly cos I have small hands but also because I like a really snug fit, inners make it feel weird.
I do ruin gloves quickly though :/
-
I hate inners, only one grip on the bat as well - I want to be in control of the bat and the closer I can feel the bat the better for me personally.
-
Only started to wear inners this year but have felt the difference in the length of time my batting gloves have lasted.

I'm completely the other way, bats feel totally wrong to me with only one grip.
I wear inners (padded ones actually!) and three grips on the bat. Feels much better to hold - I used to get pains in my thumb joints the day after playing, but since I adopted this setup I don't get them anymore.
It doesn't reduce the control of the bat either - I never had any in the first place ;)
-
I don't wear inners as it ruins the feel of the bat in my hands. I also use 1 grip where possible.
I found Pittards are a good compromise. I get sweaty palms and the Pittard palms do a far superior job to clearing moisture and retaining grip. Only problem tends to be you have to dry them out asap or they are next to useless the following day. I think it's also 1 pair a season I go through as the grip pattern on the palm gets worn down and they tend to clear moisture less effectively the longer you use them.
-
When I am using inners I get that spongey feeling whilst holding the bat that just isn't right. I prefer no inners but the downside to this is my gloves are getting sweaty too quick, and I don't like cheap ol' gloves! Somewhat a fan of gloves, abit like Wilkie is!

I intend to start wearing fingerless inners.
Is it just gray nics who make these or is there a better pair?

I originally wore gray nics fingerless ones and they were great untill I lost them, tried full in nets and didn't like them as much as I like to be able to feel the bat at least through the fingers, since then gone without and been okay but my gloves are wearing quicker. I'll be investing in the GN fingerless ones again this year
-
I don't wear Inners. I do however use talc powder on my hands just before I go out to bat and have done for years, works a treat.
-
I wear full fingered inners because of how much I sweat but to be honest feel more comfortable without so the last few games I have not worn any on match day but made sure I wear them in the nets.

That's quite different.
What sort of gloves do you wear....Does it get slippery with softer leather palms...calf etc
-
Time to revert back to using these. Gloves get wrecked, money consuming addiction.
-
Never worn inners. Can't 'feel' the bat in my hands. I pay the price in gloves though. Probably go through 2 or 3 pairs in a season.
-
I tried inner once but felt awkward while gripping the bat ...maybe due to my small hands :(
-
Started wearing fingerless inners a couple of seasons ago, purely for sweat absorption! Managed to pick up a whole bunch of kookaburra and sommers pairs on the cheap off eBay.
-
Swear by fingerless inners. I don't like the full-fingered ones because you lose the "feel" in the fingers, and given that the palms of the hands sweat and not the fingers, it makes perfect sense. I hate when gloves get crusty from perspiration, I know a guy at my club who pours water on the palms before he bats, which I find very strange...
-
It's not a concept I've tried tbh. Once, up here in sunny scotland my fingers went numb with the cold while batting in a Saturday match in May. Happened a few times since so inners may be an idea!
-
I go through phases of wearing them then not wearing them, I think it depends on the feel of my gloves and handle. All about what feels best for you to be honest
-
I like fingerless inners personally as they offer a bit more of a spongey feel! However, when using gloves with pittard palms I dont feel i need inners
-
Pittards palms seem to have a 'spongier' feel. I can't bat with inners and always use Pittards gloves. Seem to soak up the sweat better as well. Only downside is the cost!
-
Tried inners and it felt like my hand was turning/sliding around inside my gloves. I'm probably the only person that dislikes pittards, feel very thin. I tend to buy 2 pairs of identical gloves and rotate from match to match and use an old pair if I go to nets
-
I dislike using inners however I'm gonna try and get used to fingerless inners because my gloves are always minging and crusty halfway into a season...so if it will keep the cost down and give me more use out of my gloves it can only be a positive!

No mate your not i can not use pittards i prefer premium calf mate and no inners i like to feel the bat mate.
-
Speaking of inners just ordered myself another 5 pair of fingerless ones, can't bat without them now
-
I've got an old pair of GN full fingered ones. They're pretty thin but give a nice snugness to my gloves. No real issues with lack of feel or slipping around in the gloves but they don't really hold that much sweat. Would probably need to change them every 20-30 mins on a hot sweaty day ( that's if I ever bat that long :-[)

Cotton ones, black, from VKS.
Look cool, keep gloves dry, cheap to replace. No brainer.
