Title: Managed to get my hand on this Beauty.
Post by: hawkeye92 on September 14, 2013, 04:56:26 PM
Managed to get my hands on this beauty of a bat from the guys down at duncan fearnly.
got them to replicate the design of the V12, but a little less concaving and weighs 2'10.
emailed the guys over at slazenger and asked if it was possible to get the lazer etching done
even though it wasn't part of the 200 bats. but they said I could have the front etching and the back put on (for no cost! :) )
Another bat to my collection of god knows how many. whoops!
Just thought I would share something I thought looked rather lovely.

Unusual application of bat tape on a new bat, but looks a stunner nonetheless!  :)

Habbit ive got into on my bats. one across each edge. then across the top top and middle then one more over the edge.
looks a bit OTT I know, nearly as bad as Samit Patel

The tape on the edge and toe is common, but can't say I've seen many/any with the middle taped, but each to their own!

Most importantly though, it looks amazing!  :) Hope it scores you lots of runs!

Great looking bat. The answer to the tape across the middle should of been "because that's where I always hit the ball"  :D

Sorry , Am I missing something?

This isn't a real Slazenger V12 right?Done by Duncan Fearnly so that means it's a replica right?

Or is it Duncan Fearnly who made these for Slazenger in the first place?

Looks a great bat! I'd love to see Duncan Fearnly back in a big way. This this shows what they can do, just a shame they need to re-branded in order to sell them.

Looks lovely but seems a bit odd that DF would make and sell you a slaz stickered bat directly. I know they made them for slaz but still seems a bit strange to me

have to agree with you. they are not allowed to do that. they can sell you the same profile bat with their own stickers or with no stickers.

It's very much like rob pack selling you one of his made "puma's"

Along as they charge the correct price there is no issue. So df would have to sell it him at slazengers rrp.

Correct, the man from salz explained it to me in this way. slaz sell a bespoke experience day to get a bat made, this is done through duncan fearnly. so it was the same prince able as that.

Exactly right. Just has to be sold at the RRP given by the brand in question.

Bat looks a stunner just chill out with the tape lad ;)

Ah ok that makes sense, otherwise I was struggling to get my head around it!

Really like the v12 stickers, my fave of all the retro looks

Yes, spoke to slazenger about it and they kindly put me in touch with DF's bat maker.
the quality is right up there, they let me go collect from DF HQ and had a look round, its like stepping back into history.
great place, shame to see it waste away!

Random. Ruin a brand new bat with a tape fetish then try and sell it on eBay?

Wonders never cease

Have to agree with you that something doesn't seem right.

That said I'm hoping hawkeye will explain exactly what's happening and prove us cynics all wrong.

whats the issue with that bat? the JD came with the stickers pack (jade dernbach) he uses or used boom boom.

regarding the v12. i use 2 gunn and moore's as my main bats, and managed to get the v12 nice and cheap.
its nice but not as nice as my GM's. as you can see, i get carried away when pay day comes in :P

Mate apologies first, now the matter is that in past we have had people who have showed off their new expensive bats and then sold them on here right away only for buyers to find out that they have been scammed. Not saying you are trying to do that but most of us are now a little vary and constantly thinking the negative. There have been buyers who have scammed sellers as well so its been a colourful history to say the least.

no worries i can totally see where you are coming from! plus ive only been on here a little while! If anyone has any concerns please do pm and i can do my best to answer any questions you have. im not trying to scam anyone just reduce my stock of sticks  :) some bats i have re-stickered which i know can cause concern from reading posts on here, so i guess the best thing to do is not touch stickers?? hopefully someone can help me out there??

Blank bats (stickerless) usually are harder to sell unless its an absolute beauty. Only official rule regarding stickers is that don't sell anything with fake stickers, even if you disclose that in your post its not allowed, and unofficial rule is don't call them decals ;)

Having used said V12 and picked up most of the bats seen on hawkeye's ebay.
It's quite simple he loves buying bats then hardly uses them.

I was the first person to use the V12- used it for a 10 min knock up in the net and safe to say it flys!
but the GM he uses as a match it goes even better.

And from memory all the restickered bats are correctly identified. (I did say if ebaying them he was better to leave stickers on or go blank :-P )

and his tape issue is so frustrating that V12 looked lovely he then took a roll of tape to it :(

Still can't really understand why you'd go to the effort to get DF make you a new bat in a certain profile, then flog it without really using it

It doesn't make sense for me either. Go through all that hassle to make  bat like that and sell it on ebay alongside with 12 other bats. And someof the doesn't have stickers even.
And most worryingly form an ebay account which got 0 feedback.
Something doesn't add up here I'm afraid.
Title: Re: Managed to get my hand on this Beauty.

I have used it in the nets, but doesnt match up to my other bats and don't really need it. the reason why the other bats don't have stickers is because they have been used and ive sanded them down, and polished them to sell. not sure why thats an issue...
Title: Re: Managed to get my hand on this Beauty.
Post by: hawkeye92 on September 16, 2013, 08:22:35 PM
and the reason the ebay account has 0 feedback, is because its a new ebay account. ive never used ebay before. cant see why thats a problem either.

How cheap was the v12? I thought it was said earlier in the thread that it had to be at the manufacturers rrp (which I imagine for one of these isn't that cheap)

It's been used for at least 10 minutes in a net and then listed as brand new on eBay. I agree with comments above that such conflicting information will cause questioning on a forum such as this with wary buyers present.
