Title: New bat! Any ideas?
Post by: lewis_faulds on September 18, 2013, 10:47:29 PM
After my 5 for the season turned into 1. My aged campaigner, kahuna 1000, is near enough dead.
I will be sending that to kookaburra for a refurb but while i get that done, I'm in need of a new bat for next year. I was thinking either the new kookaburra kahuna or the bubble but my favoured bat is the Gray Nicolls Kaboom DW Signature - the top end bat. Any ideas? I'm really open to any bat as long as it has a low-
Mid middle! Looking to spend under £250??
Any helpers?
Thanks in advance

Still just about enough time to pre-order a bubble from us with a discount.

Send me a pm to get the ball rolling mate.

Jake

Thanks for the support, Lewis, but this offer has now expired, sorry! We can still sort out a pre-order and pick a "good 'un" for you, but it would might work out cheaper ordering through Jake now...

Don't own anything yet - still an idea in the works. As much as I would like to i need to have the best possible bat for the level I'm playing at. In time I hope that people are posting asking to buy a virus! But until I have a maker and the correct backing. It's just an idea. Therefore i must rely on bats like these!

We can cater to that but what's your ideal weight?

Have some lovely bats on offer at the moment but can provide what you need within budget direct from the workshop as well

How so?

Doesn't inspire connotations of high quality or of cricket really! I wouldn't have quite been so blunt about it, but its not a great name mate!

Virus - building up against the bowler.
Spreading to a pitch near you? Antibiotics can't stop this virus?

Decided that I will NOT attempt to start my own brand up. Will let those who know best do it. Too much hassle and never once on the form have I said I was sponsored. Good guess tho. Any Ideas about any bat at all.. Let me know

Hi all,
I am Lewis Faulds. 16 years old and still at school. I am the founder and attempting to be owner of Virus. The name was inspired by my chemistry teacher who wrote the virus on every bat he has ever owned - thus the link.
I was duped into the bats of keeping, who offered me a grade 1 bat at £80. I thought that this was their trade price. While on eBay, I was looking for a hammer fyrre and was about to buy Simons until my loving sponsors at kookaburra decided they'd renew my deal. In short, virus is still a dream. In all honesty, I wanted the honest opinion of people like yourself, who know far more than me about company's. I plan on getting bats from SM in India now, as they offer grade 1 at a realist price. If any wants to give me some positive/ negative comments about my plans let me know. My bats aren't amazing. I've only had two samples from companies that'll remain nameless but they were ok. With the exception of a CA custom I received.

Thank you,
Regards
Lewis

Alas I was wrong, live and learn. I was sponsored but they asked me to send my request in again and said I'd probably get less so I thought I'm just as we'll buying from Paul or somewhere. To be honest, I've had an idea like this for about two years. Nothing was ever going to happen. Was shot down by most but oh well..

Who are you Lewis Faulds......? What's you real name mate!!!!

I am sure you are a great guy, but you stories aren't matching up with the whole kooka thing. Don't even think about going into the cricket business, it can be pure hell at times!

Red Ink Cricket?

My sister has been in touch with John and he seems to be pretty awesome and his hand made bats seem to be top notch.

Worth giving him a shout.

Another reason why I decided not to - will let you experts do it!
Also I was sponsored from kookaburra for a year - didn't want to be tied down so decided not to renew . They were great tho

Didn't want to be tied down? Mate I know you are a kid but a small piece of advice, don't talk complete and utter rubbish on here, you'll gain peoples respect much quicker

Meaning I can try different kit etc. As you said I'm a 'kid'. I posted here attempting to avoid people talking about it as I wanted a new bat.. Don't really think you have the right to post that to be honest.

Yes I really think he does... First you try and push these Virus bats to people on here while making false claims about them and then you are sponsored by kook and then you aren't, you have your own brand and then you don't. Your stories have constantly changed with every post and at this point if time I know I wouldn't trust to buy anything from you

I never wanted anything on here about Virus, it was an idea I was pursueing. I had a bat maker and stickers lined up and then I saw feedback about the alleged bat maker that wasn't actually a bat maker. I was sponsored by kookaburra, I received % off RRP. The contract expired during the week, I have paperwork to verify all claims. With regards to you not buying anything from me, that's fine. I won't be selling my own gear.. Not now not ever. I posted here asking about a new bat and get this..?

Ok chaps obviously a little bit of a spicy thread for many reasons, how about we leave lewis to it, he's had advice from people suggesting a number of forum sponsors who could sort him a nice bat - maybe he'll buy one and do a detailed, concise review - and virus can be put to bed (probably with night nurse  :D)
