Title: Broken wrist
Post by: potzy248 on September 23, 2013, 12:12:05 AM
Hi guys. Cricket kicks off Oct 5th in NZ and I have just been diagnosed with an Avulsion fracture of my right Ulna bone (Tendon comes off and takes a bit of bone with it). Gutted obviously but is there anything I can do do help the wrist when it comes out of the cast. Its touch and go wether it will be ok by the 5th but maybe with a bit of strapping?

Cheers

Have broken my scaphoid in my right hand and my distal radius in my left - Both healed really quickly and just fine for me, but it's the immobilisation that gets you. Just have to stretch it to get it back to its full range of motion.

I came back early from both of mine, but it was during footy season, so I just strapped it and just hoped I didn't land on it or anything.

Haha.
Think I will be taking to the cast with a saw before our first game.
Cheers.

What's wrong with missing the first game if you're injured? I personally would rather be fully healed before coming back than risk further injury, but with that being said I'd certainly share your frustration.

I've been in your position before mate. I understand the eagerness to start the season, and your disappointment for not being able to; however is it really worth playing as in the first game you could injure your self more resulting in you being out the full season which would be a guttering!
