Working on a date currently. Just need to check over a few things as we have some Groupon voucher bookings in mid-late October.

The event is likely to be later in Oct to give everyone time to arrange things. Is the general consensus a weekday (we are open 11am - 7pm and would stay open later for a forum event) or a Saturday?

Im intrested in this date depending, was very impressed with vitas last year as hosts.
I can always talk GM with people when I'm there as I'm sure a few would be intrested with hearing more about the new range.
Jake you may have to hide those B&S as I may leave with one up my shirt haha

OK, Saturday October 26th chaps.

We will be open from 9am (ish, hangover dependent) but i imagine with some of you looking to travel quite a distance, there isn't much point starting so early. Shall we say a loose 11am start? Happy to continue for as long as people want to stay be honest. We will provide a spread, probably in the form of a cricket tea, along with a few beers and soft drinks.

Our net will be held on site, as we have an in-store lane with a bowling machine. There will be a few demo bats knocking about to try, and of course there will be the shop to have a nose around in. :)

As we did when we hosted the cricket insight gear test, we are happy to collect a few of you from the train station which is about 5 minutes away. It would be good if you could arrange arrivals to be close to each other, saves you waiting around like a lemon and/or multiple trips for us. :)

Many thanks for the kind words mate. Please come if you can, always happy to host brand representatives, i'm sure there will be a few questions for you. Quite low on the B&S front right now, only 3 or 4 left until our next delivery.

George from Stretton Fox will also be attending, and will be bringing a sample bag of goodies for people to try out, as well as news on upcoming products he has in the works

Not really considered an upper limit. We have more than enough space to cater for more than this, it's down to individuals to judge whether they are happy to stand around for periods when others are batting. Thats when the food/drink buffet, our shop, James from GM and George from Stretton Fox come in to fill those gaps. Of course watching your mates/new acquiantances get stitched up by the BOLA and egging each other on is very fun too.

The Turbo bats are confirmed, the Turbo softs are a maybe.

New B&S bats are here already, softs again are a maybe.

Spartan is touch and go for arrival in time for the event.

Should have a few bits and bobs from TON 2014 on the day too.

George from Stretton Fox will bring his box of tricks, maybe i can push Perkins17 to sort something with GM too.

Anything other than that will be a last minute bonus.

Just a quick bump on this.

There will be some very attractive offers and discounts available on the day for all attendees, the only way to find out exactly what they are will be to come along :)

In addition, George has very special set of Stretton Fox guards made up for a West Indian international. These will be auctioned off with an outrageously low starting price.

Title: Re: Vitas Cricket Forum Event - October
Post by: Vitas Cricket on October 10, 2013, 10:14:33 PM
No need for any payment mate, the spread and a few beers aren't gonna break the bank, and hopefully at least one of you will take advantage of the equipment discounts on the day, meaning we won't lose any money on the net. I'm looking at this as more of a thank you to customers old and new.

Um, no real schedule to be honest. We are very laid back and are happy to just let things evolve. I guess the rough idea is to show up at 11ish, earlier if you like, we'll be there from 9. From there chat, get to know each other, mill about the shop. Fire up the bowling machine and watch the chaos, hopefully waiting around while others bat wont be an issue with the food, beers (soft drinks for simdog) Stretton fox and Gm representatives to quiz and the shop to browse. At some point we will do the Stretton fox auction too.

You could always pack her off to queens gate shopping centre for the afternoon, which is about a 5 minute drive from us ;)

Hi guys, it is 90% confirmed that we will also have Gary from Bellingham and Smith with us on the day. Samples permitting, we will be launching a new B&S model for the UK market, as well as new softs. There will be demo models of the B&S range for you to try out on the day.

The Turbo probably around £180. The Turbo LE £200-ish.

There will be some available to purchase on the day at our place, along with a demo model. After that, i should be able to sort a wider forum offer out.
Title: Re: Vitas Cricket Forum Event - October

OK, 9 days to go for this event.

If i could get some confirmations, that will be great. Thus far i think i have the following.

Myself
Robin
Perkins17
Gary from B&S
George from Stretton Fox (plus special guest)
Simmy
Ryan
Ciaran
wayward_hayward
tommo256
d7bow
19reading87
Liam - rob pack
Dean - Vulcan
Tumo
Kal
uknsaunders
marc28
soulman1012

Plus some maybes? roco, Wilkie and Jamielsn15.

Myself, Robin and certainly Gary won't have much of a net, if at all. So during the day there will be ample time to smash balls when you aren't browsing the shop or quizzing a brand representative, or indeed eating cake!

So, plan for the day is hopefully to see the launch of a new B&S model, as well as softs. Stretton Fox will have goodies for you to try out, as well as a set of guards designed for a West Indies international to auction off with a really low start price. James Perkins has kindly agreed to answer any GM related questions too. In addition, we will have quite a few of the new Hunts Revolution Turbo bats on sale at a great price on the day, as well as a demo model.

Lots of cake, some other nibbles, beers, soft drinks, and the net to keep us entertained and fantastic on the day discounts in store.

Looking forward to it now. :)

Jake

Good stuff guys. If using a sat nav please enter 'Dodson way' into it rather than just our postcode, as sometimes sat navs take you to a different business park when just given the postcode.

Full address is

Vitas Cricket
Unit 8 Vitas Business Centre
Dodson Way
Fengate
Peterborough
PE1 5XJ

If anyone else is getting the train like I assume Perkins17 is, please let me know and we can sort out picking you up.

Under 24 hours to go now. Just had confirmation that B&S will be here with some samples for you to have a butchers at.

I have just put together a few on the day discounts on certain items.

Should be a fun day.

If anyone is getting the train and hasn't informed me yet, i am doing a pickup from the station at approx 10am to collect James from GM. If you time your trip to co-incide with his that would be lovely. :)

Will be in line with our Birthday offer, so 20% off most bats (excluding B&S, unfortunately for bargain hunters they sell themselves) and i think all softs too. Also a very special launch offer on the new Hunts Revolution Turbos.

Please bear in mind that the website may now be carrying stock that we no longer have. My hitlist for next week only has one bullet point, which is to update the website with 2014 products and remove anything we don't have left from 2013.

None is the simple answer. Was hoping our Spartan order would arrive in time but this was always an outside chance.

We have the new Hunts Turbos and we recently had a delivery of B&S, but most new season equipment won't arrive/be handpicked for a couple of weeks at the earliest.

Ha it feels like Christmas every time i open the doors mate. :)

We will also have a batmaker from Hunts come down for a bit during the day. I believe he will bring a couple of clefts and maybe some tools. But either way he is there to talk about and answer any questions about the batmaking process. :)

Evening guys, thanks to Jake for a really good day. He organised for George from Stratton Fox, the 2 guys from B&S who revealed there new kit for 2014 and also a bat maker from Hunts County who did a great Q&A.

Great to see the lads I'm met before ( even Mr Saunders) and good to meet new people. I stuck to my reputation and parted with some more hard earned money courtesy of Mr Fox and the guys at B&S. will post more about the day later but need to run to my presentation evening.

I pre-ordered the B&S limited edition gear, I choose a B&S Supreme that was on the shelf but needs a little clean up so the guys agreed to send the new stickers to Jake so he could match the bat to the new softs. Really impressed with the quality of B&S gear espicially from there bats, the performance from all of the bats there was very good on tapping an od ball. The new LE softs have pittard s on the gloves and a traditional pad. Will post pics when there ready which I believe is sometime in December.

The bat I'm using in the net video was a B&S ST shape that was huge for a 2.10 bat, went like a train when I found the middle. There were two very nice Argon's as well, one being a Graeme Smith flat face reject that was huge.

A great choice, really like the kit in the pics! Has Jake had all the gear delivered or at least the samples as am passing beginning of November?

Was it a stock supreme (shape wise)?

I personally wasn't that keen on the B&S softs for 2014. The two colour schemes (yellow/blue and red/blue) didn't strike me with a wow factor. While the bats were no doubt impressive in profiles, I preferred the old stickers to the new ones on show yesterday. Just me two pence.

Are these in stock Jakeus & do you have any prices yet?

A great choice, really like the kit in the pics! Has Jake had all the gear delivered or at least the samples as am passing beginning of November?

Was it a stock supreme (shape wise)?

No it arrives in December I believe they only had there sample kit with them which is going to other retailers, I know Mark on the day was trying to buy the Scorcher softs for himself on the day.

Yes the Supreme I choose was a stock shaper. The LE bats they had were concaved like a Puma which I don't like and the Supreme I picked was like a ST profile with very little concaving so gonna have that cleaned up and the new LE stickers applied. Don t k ow why but I really like the yellow baby blue combo.

Fattus from memory the Scorcher pads were £50 and gloves £35 and LE pads £62 and gloves £50 or something very similar to those prices, I'm sure Jake will give us exact prices soon.

If it is, then I shall have to remember to shave mine before we go down to Uzi. We can go as the Mitchell brothers.

Cheers mate.

Can you do a review of the Hunts Turbo you used, well the edge that you used a lot  :(

Well it went like this...

Missed the first 4 balls, feet stuck in concrete and eyes never saw the ball.
Progressed to edging it with the odd one coming off the middle
Wrote off the first session as my gloves were as stiff as cardboard and the bat was obviously too heavy

2nd session with the Argon I looked like a batsman at last, thanks in part to using Jakes gloves and the Argon Original LE (lovely stick)
3rd session was back to the Icon and my feet had started to move as well, risked 65mph towards the end and even hit a couple

Learnt nothing about the hunts bat and nothing about the GM's because I know they go well anyway.

Peggy was the brains of the outfit, so that sounds about right compared to you two  ;)

Yeah I think the machine was at 18 yards,  75 and 78mph was very quick!

Yeah I think the machine was at 18 yards,  75 and 78mph was very quick!

Well 18 yards/22 yards is 18% less distance to travel and I would imagine 65mph on the machine would feel like 79mph due to the reduced reaction time. I did a couple at 78  mph to you Ryan so that would be 95mph  :o

To be fair, i'm not sure what speed it was but it's the quickest I've faced for a while. I'm just glad it wasn't short, that would have got painful very quickly.

I wish! I am a opening bowler predominately but have worked hard on my batting over the past 6-8 months. I played a few games batting 9-11 for our first XI in Cambs Tucker 1 (one division below the EAPL) and then the rest of the season in Cambs Junior 1, batting between 5 and 7.  Junior 1 is 5 divisions below Tucker 1 and the standard is pretty average Saturday league cricket.

I can sort a net out but the problem we have is that all the nets are occupied especially on sunday for indoor matches. I'll do enquiries and see if I can get one booked. I think you guys won't have time to go to the nets as there are so many bats to look at :D

Myself and Nick are probably coming.

Not having a net probably suits me better mind. Looking at bats for a couple of hours is better....

I'm half way there, just need to score runs like one now!

I'm 21, took up the sport at 14 so bypassed nearly any junior matches except a couple of under 17 games. Due to me being picked as a bowler, I was regularly down as 9/10/11 so didn't get much batting exposure in matches. Last season was an improvement as I was batting top 7, in a pretty poor league and was successful scoring 135 runs from 6 innings with a top score of 80*.

For me now a days, selecting bat, watching some live cricket plus food makes a perfect day.
There will be plenty of food and most importantly show you some of the bats which we only give to professional players

It's like The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Redders - you go into Asad's special cupboard and come out the back into some kind of wonderland full of willow and goodies.

Fortunately there isn't a sodding great lion waiting there for you - only Asad, with his till open.

Many thanks to all who came, hopefully the little extras like the B&S launch and the chat from the Hunts bat-maker were appreciated, as well as George from Stretton Fox and James from GM available for further help/Q&A. I didn't actually see much of the chat with Matt from Hunts, but everyone seemed to say it went well.

I have got some prices and further pictures of the B&S stuff and i will create a topic this afternoon, as well as a topic to extend the special offer on the Hunts Turbos to all on the forum.

I can't make Asads event, but hopefully i will see a few of you at IJC's one, as well as at Choice Cricket Centre.

Just polished off the last of the cake.... yum. :)

Unfortunately I was unable to make the event but popped in earlier today to Vitas whilst passing for a nosey.

Firstly a pleasure to meet both the guys and secondly was really impressed with the 2 limited edition B&S (2014) left by the rep, although a little on the heavy side for me personally (didn't pick up too heavy) fantastic value for a bat of that calibre - certainly can see why Soulman placed a order!
