Title: Buying from Australia
Post by: lewis_faulds on September 30, 2013, 10:11:52 AM
Hi guys,
Has anyone bought from Aussie before and if so have the had to pay loads towards duty and Vat? Was keen to get some Aussie gear that's not available over here. Anyone recommend taking a punt and buying it?
Cheers  :D

What do you want here? Being an Aussie, my experience is that the English stuff is much better then the stuff here!

isnt aussie gear quite expensive to start with? shipping will be expensive and you'll have to pay import duty too. i just got a quote to ship a bat to Aus and it was around £45 with insurance so that should give you an idea of the shipping costs

I'm after a Midas 700 and the matching 900 gloves. Only comes to £144 + £60 postage!!
What I'm worried about is getting it into the uk.

Normally that's what I thought, then i saw it online. It's grade 3 though so maybe not as good a deal as I thought.

Don't know what it is but the Midas appeals to me so much :D

I am in the middle off getting a scat series 3 that will cost best part off 400 pounds and I worried about import tax into the country as well so it could make it a very expensive bat

Me too! :( they aren't very clear on it. I've asked the store I'm getting it from and they said 25% off what the total came to.. My brother bought before and didn't pay anything..

Agree 100%
We get ripped off badly in Australia when it comes to cricket gear.

Cheaper to buy from us and save on VAT, isn't it?!  ;)

I think it would be a cheaper to do that. I was in a cricket store in Gordon last week having a look at a few bats and was surprised at how poor they looked for the money they wanted, that said the bats may perform quite well but if i'm spending $700 on a bat I don't want it to look like grade 3 willow!
I doubt the quality of the bats we get here is as good as in the UK.
