Title: Face-mask worn with baseball cap
Post by: Jaffa on October 06, 2013, 09:14:12 PM
Been looking round for a keepers face-mask that allows you to wear a baseball cap the right way round (i.e. the peak covering your eyes).

Hockey masks Aero masks don´t seem to do it. Any ideas? Baseball catcher masks?

Start catching the ball rather than taking it in the face and your troubles will be over  ;)
In all seriousness I think a baseball guard would be very cumbersome.

Maybe ditch the mask and get a gum shield if its your gnashers that are the concern

Unlikely baseball will be of help.

Most catchers rotate their helmet to have the peak facing backwards.

A traditional cricket helmet has a peak, just a thought?  :-[

LOL, I´m trying to save the blushes of our keeper who´s not very computer literate. He´s tried various helmets and found them all to have varying degrees of discomfort so after a while he takes it off and it´s only a matter of time before one comes up off the turf and catches him on his noggin´.

Many baseball catchers (and more so umpires) do where a forwards facing peak under face mask, so it can be done

What's the issue with him wearing his cap backwards with a mask?

I didnt realise you could wear a cap backwards under the aero mask, with the straps the way they are. Thankfully it stops one of the biggest looking village cricket mistakes along with black socks. i would go with rob pack a suggest a gum shield and a cap.
