Title: My short visit to Newbery
Post by: Uzi Sports on October 08, 2013, 09:37:27 PM
Just arrived back home after a busy day. I had a meeting with one of our big customer who we supply clothing to and it was near Sussex. As meeting finished early, I thought I should visit Newbery and look at some bats especially Kudos. They didn't have any Kudos in stock and don't expect any until next week. I did pick up few of other models from the stock they had. I was so busy going through the bats until they told me it is time to close the shop. I have picked up the following bats:
Mjoliner, krakatoa, Uzi and 7even bats plus some juniors, all these are selected on performance rather than looks.
Kudos sps and players will be with us next week, some of these are being made according to customers specifications who have pre ordered these
I bet you want to see the photos of the bats I picked up today ;)
too tired at the moment, will post some photos tomorrow

Nahhh! You know nothing - that bottom Mjolnir is a thing of beauty - I've had to slip the old rubber underwear on after seeing that.

Asad's going to sell me that at a bagain price - he just doesn't know it yet.

I've always had a soft spot for the Mjolnir. The profile is very similar to the Newbery Excalibur that I used to use. I had a look at one when I visited Paul at IJC recently and was surprised by how good the pick up felt.

They look great. What are they like of the mallet? I've found not all 5* respond as well as their other grades. Had an Uzi players which I sold to a mate and always regretted it. Weighed 2.14 but pick up was more like 2.10 with the higher middle. One of the best bats I've ever owned.

Newbery Stamps
2008 - C
2009 - D
2010 - E
2011 - F
2012 - G
2013 - H

Above are the previous stamps plus the year. So not sure that P would be next?

My pro bin Kudos just has the H stamp on one shoulder and then I asked them to put 001 on the opposite shoulder to indicate the first Kudos sold to general public.

The a nooner I bought on the same day also has H stamp as well

i always look forward when I am hand picking bats and i have been doing this for the last 7 years. John Fordham actually started this and to date i believe he still selects bats. When you come on Sunday, you will see the quality of bats we stock
Just hope I find some beauties tomorrow, will report tomorrow night

Asad they have a Tour XL there, could you find out the weight of that beast?

Also could you let me know if the newbery model stickers are a deprecate sticker or apart of the whole newbery sticker? Does that make sense lol?

If you can find a 2lb10oz Mjolnir Player, which looks like the SPS, and will sell it to me for the £137 that prodirect are selling them for, I'm in! ;)
