He clearly read the thread the other day and realized it was time to go if he'd lost the CBF masses

-
Can't wait for the programme of all of his best games in highlights! bring it on SKY!

-
Saw him play when we were both youngsters at a charity game at Mirfield CC. He played alongside established test players and whilst it was only a charity game you could tell then he was going to be class

-
Remember him in the nets at Yorkshire - would bat for hours on end and days on end to improve.  Wonderful player.

-
Was clearly time, but what a wonderful player. At least I'll be able to tell my kid/grandkids that I was lucky enough to see him play in the flesh.

-
That'll keep Cricinfo writers busy for the next few years after the website crashes...

 Superb player

How all good things come to an end, proves we are human and need to call it a day. Being an Indian I feel lucky he was born in India and served our country for such a long time. Best thing about him is the way he played his cricket for such a long time, no controversies, no fallouts and being humble till this day. Would definitely miss him on field.

Maybe now he may divulge who actually made his bats...

He probably approached GarrettJ via email about making his bats, but that can't be revealed due to a confidentiality agreement  ;)

Nice picture on the BBC article, is that 'the' bat?? (Don't know about anyone else but I wouldn't have even kept a net bat for long enough to get to that stage.)

Ooooo! He looks like he's holding a pint of Dog-Poo - obviously not a Tetters fan!
-
				Haha, can't blame him!

-
This was a great knock, plus there's a bit of VVS thrown in for good measure.

				Gasp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-
Are you on the grownup pop?

-
Yup, I'm halfway there already, with a long way to go yet!

Even GarrettJ could sell me a bat tonight!
-
				... no controversies...
Except the whole ball tampering thing  ;)

You know what, I've never ever rated Sachin! He's never looked that great in my opinion

-
Interesting comment Nick, you must have different standards to most, who has looked great in your opinion?

-
Slow day mate, just trying to liven it up a bit! ;) Great - in my opinion..... Rob Key, Nick Knight, Ed Cowan etc.

-
:) Everybody loves Rob Key, a true legend in my eyes.

-
Tendulkar is a cast iron legend.

 What a stylish batsman.

I remember watching cricket on the TV THAT summer in 1992...and seeing this teenager blaze two centuries in the series and my mates and I turning to each other saying "how good is this kid???"

He hasn't let us down since then.

 A star.

will be interesting to see just how much of a great SRT is considered to be in a few years time

for those into statistics(i'm not) he actually averages more against Australia than his overall average is....

and if you consider the Aussies for a long time were considered the best team of all time by many(IMO you struggle to get past the 1980's west indians but that's another argument) :)
