Title: GM 808 batting pads
Post by: Twelfth Man on October 19, 2013, 11:16:25 PM
Has anybody got or tried GM 808 batting pads? I'm interested in getting a set of GM gear and wondering about the quality and protection level. I'm really big on real life pictures of products as well rather than seeing the same old stock photo appear ever you look so if anybody has a pair and could take a couple of pictures then that would be great :)

Am I taking the fact nobody can help means that they're clearly not that good?  :(

I have used the 909 pads and thought they were excellent - not sure if that helps.

I can't speak for the pads, but I have an old pair of 808 gloves.
They feel quite heavy to me, but they do offer decent protection.

I have some GM original pads and they were very comfy and the protection was top notch, sadly wont be wearing them this year as I've updated my kit, still in awesome condition if you fancy a pair

I got the 808s for Xmas mate.
Feel sturdy and offer decet protection, if not the lightest pads on the market.
I find them very comfortable and they are fine when running.

P.S if you sharpie out the 808 they look rather decent ;)

I have the 808 pads, just spotted this link, they are really good sturdy pads, I've been hit a couple of times with the bowling machine and had no issues.  I have the youth size due to being 5ft7" for the money they are great pads.

Used a sharpie mate, thought it looked a bit better without it personally

Apologies for bringing up an old topic.

Cam, have you had the chance to use the pads yet? Have you gone all GM gear as well?

Hi Mate

I have used these a few times for both indoor cricket and our winter net sessions.
They offer good protection (I was hit on the shin by the machine at 75mph and didn't feel it) so I can only recommend them.

Some say that the weight of these is quite high, but they're only about 850g per pad (roughly, I can't remember exactly what I weighed them as) and when you wear them you don't notice they're heavy at all.

In short decent comfort, decent protection and look decent.
My only complaint is that the straps are too long (I have fat legs and use a small men's pair) but other than that no complaints.
