Hi guys,
For some reason, I cant seem to play cover drive shots properly . My coach says that my bat is coming down in arc rather than coming down straight . Tried and tried , but seems issue still persists . I have high bat lift. Please advice any routines so that bat comes down straight when playing in cover.

Ask your coach? As opposed to getting 20+ different answers on here that will ruin your technique thoroughly. If you'e got access to a coach, use him!

Agree with that. My only comment is your bat follows your hand, so see what they are doing.

is you back lift go straight back?
or does it go at a 45degree angle?

When you say you can't play them properly, what do you mean? Are you missing the ball? Edging it? What?
Also, if your coach has told you that your bat is coming down in an arc, but you still haven't sorted it perhaps you're better off looking for a new coach who can help solve your issue. It's no good them pointing out someone's fault and not being able to find the best way to rectify it.

If right handed watch Vaughan or if left watch tresco, watch, copy repeat it's all about timing and balance and having your head over the ball and still.

i slap my cover drive. as my bat comes down at an angle but it works for me so not fussed. or i think i do my right arm is usually straight when i hit the ball rather than keeping the diamond

I don't think you can look past Michael Vaughan, Ian Bell or Michael Clarke as the best cover drivers - all sublime.

Ian Bell - it's an off drive but the principles are the same…

Thanks guys for the immense help . :)
Well, to start with the coach we have is a very senior player who is excellent batsman too . The issue is he only turns up on match so he isn't around in nets.
The issue I face coz of my technique ,due to arc forming , ball doesbt leave with pace it should. It kind of slides rather than rebounds back so I am always late.
Have been following different videos and shadow practising with bat coming down straight from initial position in direction of front foot .
as I keep kind of 45 degrees batlift I am trying to change my initial batlift position .. so that arm comes down straight .
thanks again for videos . Appreciate .

Practice in front of a full length mirror playing the shots very slowly till it starts to come right. Then speed up.
Also try a spell without the mirror then go back to it to see if anything has changed and rectify the changes
Keep at it till it comes naturally.
