Title: My new piece of willow
Post by: Twelfth Man on October 30, 2013, 10:37:35 AM
With some time on my hands I thought I'd put up a thread about my new bat. After much deliberation and thinking I decided to purchase a bat from the guys at Simply Cricket. They only have a top of the range section (for now!) so my choice of grade bat wasn't exactly difficult. Some messages were sent forwards and back to see what was available and decided to in fact meet them in person to have a feel of their bats, and they brought maybe seven bats of various weights to decide from. Anyway, I went with the one below. 2lb 10oz, one scale grip & anti-scuff sheet.

Apologies for the pictures, they are from my phone but hopefully give you an idea on the bat. They are decent sized bats for the weight and picks up very nicely. As you can see from the most recent pics, I've had a go with it in training and it is very promising. It still has a little bit of that new bat feeling but is starting to ping and I'm a very happy customer.  The service from these guys is awesome. If you're local in the Essex area, they've gone to clubs winter training sessions with all of their kit so you're able to have a look in person etc, as well as some bats to try out in the nets to see if you like them! I would recommend these guys to anybody and if you have any questions I'll try to answer them or can send them their way for a response. I will say that I know the guys running it, as they're from a quite a local club. They're currently in Australia selling their equipment.

looks really good. love the grains. personally like the stickers also. they don't cover too much of the wood.

Thanks! The grains are pretty good. 11 straight so can't complain! Yeah I like the stickers, was a little unsure of the silver cobra going down the back at first but think its growing on me a little :)

Cheers mate. Not bad for a small local company. Hopefully it keeps getting better and plays well! Need to invest in their softs etc now.
