Maybe Try & Repair it? or Send a replacement!
-
probs replace it
-
Can be repaired, depends how they're feeling though.
-
I think they will more than likely send a replacement.
-
Hopefully send a replacement as i dont have a the bit of wood that goes in there and it wud be crap if they fixed it
-
As tom said, they will probley replace it if there in a good mood, if not. you will get it back with a shabby repair !
-
Is it a Newbery or a fake?
They would always replace it if there is a fault and the bat is less than a season old, otherwise it will depend on the condition of the bat.
-
nope its real and about 6 months old mate, wot is best to do email them and send pictures??

Best thing to do is ring them and explain. send some pics via email. then they should make the decision.
-
Just post it to them with a note explaining how it happened. They will not try and replace a corner unless it can be secured without any risk of breaking off again.
-
Question,
Are you left handed.
Why would it be crap if they repaired your bat.
I could repair that bat and you would likely not even know it had been.

ok thanks a lot mate
and in response bill im right handed and if newbery cant do anything about it then i will get in contact but in some ways im hoping that if they repair it they will refurb it aswell or even better send a new bat out cheers tho :)
-
Newbery have very good batmakers, why would they do a shoddy repair.
Outside corners are not normally subjected to damage,so if it was repaired the chances are that it would not go again. You did not answer why it would be crap if it was repaired.
Bill.
PS Tom talks about mood, if I read some of these posts I would be in a bad mood, I think the lesson must be,Think before you post,be diplomatic, Remember, these posts are read by persons all over the place, including cricket equipment companies !!!
-
i dont know and i like newbery and they are good batmakers just in the past i have had numerous bats repaired and they just broke again, e.g. had a kookaburra beast repaired and was shoddy and broke, but im sure newbery are better
-
I'm biased but Kevin who repairs Newbery bats is the best in the business and that is why he would not boost about being able to repair anything, he is a modest chap who would be honest and if it was unreapirable, say so. This is typical of the Newbery ethos, hence why smaller inferior companies are so desperate to have their bats made by them.
Just as a note I had one sent back for a repair yesterday but the split continued beyond the first repair and hence they said they would prefer to replace the bat than risk it going again, now thats customer service as the bat was well over a season old.
-
yes that sounds like great customer service so i think i will take talisman's advice and just send to them with a letter explaining what has happened and leave my contact details, and im sure they will get in touch
-
I broke my Grizzly in half the second time i used it! The crack went right through the middle of the bat below the splice.I sent the bat back too them and they replaced in straight away.Top people and thats why they are the one of the best.By the way i made 105* and 36 with the first bat and 42 and 93 with the replacement!! Quality bats!!!

Bill - i also have a bat that i think would be difficult to repair - you say that you can repair bats to a high standard, i would be interested to see whether you could make this bat look like it had never had the damage in the first place. Let me know if you think you could repair this to a high standard.

-

spoke to your son i believe - will be posting the bat off today or tomorrow.
Cheers
-
Shilly, how much did you pay for that of Mike?
-
i stole it.
-
talking of stealing things from mike, i commited daylight robbery and walked straight out with a fairly nice cricket ball yesterday.
-
and two lovely looking bats aswell!!! Criminal not to use them!
-
bat has been posted bill - with it i have put the chunk which fell off in an envelope with my contact details.
Thanks again
Dom
-
Dom,
That was/is my bat. Can you send it back when its repaired please?
Cheers
Gareth
-
Thats fine, shall i send you the invoice for the repair?
-
please.
-
However. Mike said it cannot be repaired?
-
It could be repaired but the advice I had was that it would break again, from 3 sources all top companies so Bill has a chance to shine.
I only let Silly have it because it was a good template for his batmaking trials, would think that even with the chunk replaced it would be liable to snap again and best kept as a template.
-
We'll see what Bill does. Can you send over the invoice then please Shilly? As you did say. Nothing yet?
-
i will struggle to send you the invoice now as the bat hasnt even reached bill, i will speak to him when he receives it and then he will let me know what he thinks.

I hope I dont get flak for bringing up a really old thread....
I have had to cracks on my Newbery GT Players.
The first to go was on the corner of the inside toe, about 3/4 of an inch along the toe 1/4 inch from the blade, and 3/4 up the inside edge.
The 2nd was on the inside shoulder of the bat from defending a beamer. Crack went up towards the handle, down the blade halfway down the 'Y' of the Newbery sticker and another crack going towards the back of the bat.
I contacted Newbery and Talent Cricket (Bat bought off the shelf, sounds like gunfire and goes like a rabbit with an electric current up its jacksie) The toe crack was when 3 weeks old, the shoulder crack was about 3 months old.
Both times it went back to Talent cricket and was repaired by themselves and I am impressed with the repair.
Was this the correct thing to do? I never received a reply from Newbery regarding the cracks, just wandered while reading this would my warranty with Newbery be affected?
-
2 years old mate, but given your long details on the subject you might be fine...
I have actually seen quite a few bats go like this not newburys but bats that have hammer edge sheets applied to them
-
the 2 letters on the shoulder signify how old it is. if it is within an acceptable range, they will replace it methinks
-
I never received a reply from Newbery regarding the cracks
With the exception of half a season on one or two occasions, I have used Newbery for almost 15 years and I have to admit that despite loving their range; their customer service has left a lot to be desired on occasion.
Having found this site a few months ago and having my eyes opened to bespoke willow options etc, it has made me realise that you may get more value for your money with others.
For me, Newbery seem a little off limits of late, I rang them about 3 months ago to enquire about getting something special for 3 or 4 of us who were willing to travel.
The lady at the other end was of little use and couldn't get rid of me quick enough or so it felt at the time.
I captain a side with 9 Newbery users, 6 of those also have softs and bags, so it was a bit of a disappointment to be honest.
When asking about any bespoke gear options, I never even got informed of the Chalet, it was only here that I came to learn of it but by then my head had been turned elsewhere.
For what its worth, I bought a Laver from Sam Peplow and it goes better than anything I've ever had and they seem very easy to get hold of via this site as do people like Ayrtek, Bulldog and H4L.
Best of luck with getting a response, I've got about 4 unanswered emails so I feel your pain!
-
glad its going well for you pal :)
