Title: Ind V WI
Post by: wasted_talent on November 08, 2013, 10:09:34 AM
So after all the build up been focused on Sachin's pending retirement, the two Indian Test Debutants have stolen the show.

I have seen lots of Sharma's batting, just surprised it took this long for him to get a go in the test format.

However, whats the view on the new bowler India seem to have unearthed, this Mohammed Shami chap? Seems to bowl at a brisk pace and has been reversing the ball to dismantle the WI batting...

Talking of which, dont understand why Shiv bats as low as he does, should be at 4 as a bare minimum!

Shiv's probably the most selfish batsman going around. Has always taken a single to give the strike to the tail so that he remains not out. Same thing today.

Sammy and ramdin have to be the worst number 6 and 7

As much as I like Sammy,

He's got to go! Offering nothing to the windies at mo. They might aswell play pollard. He offers just as much with bat and ball.

Also why has narine not played? Hashe been discarded as a t20 specialist already?

It's only an exhibition match anyway.

To be fair to shiv, dont you think he should be batting higher up the order? To enable him most time possible to bat. Clearly the best batter for WI in Test format..?

Think Narine has struggled in this format.. Shinllingford clearly the better option for Tests. Though, you may have a point, perhaps play Narine as the second spinner.

And Sammy, totally agree, simply dont warrant a spot in the side.

Tendulkar would be happy that narine is nowhere near this series.
Does Dwayne bravo no longer play tests? I'm sure he can bat and bowl better then Sammy.
Tino best had a really nice NB bat.

Do umpires allow all bowling actions these days? Shinllingford's arm does not look close to being straight

Fully Agree. He should bat at number 3. It seems like he has been sidelined in his team.

Its unfair to criticize Chanderpaul..also I dont mind him coming down the order and giving batsmen like Bravo and Samuels a chance..they are the future of WI cricket...Chanderpaul has never shielded the tailenders..maybe thats his style.

good thing about Mohammed Shami is that he makes the batsmen play all the time. Lot of international bowlers waste their energy bowling too wide outside off stump..a bowler's best chance to get a batsmen out is by making him play.

This chap Rohit Sharma - two knocks in test cricket and two hundreds.

only 49 to go to be better than Sachin then - at this rate it wont take long...!

Some effort regardless of the nature of the pitches and opposition.

This game is going to be another inning victory for Sachin and the other 10 players in his last test.

Sammy is being carried again in this game.

Also rohit averages 288 in test cricket! He can get 4 ducks in a row and still avg 50 plus!

Watched the India WI ODI today on TV.. and 1 word:

Stupidity!!

Why are we even bothering having this series. Absolute 1 sided contest the whole series, Indian batsmen looking like immortals..

Apart from it being 2-1 in the series and only winning with 3 overs? No exactly pointless is it?

Well I wasn't saying its 1-sided India's way..

Bowlers have no help from the pitches.. Dew plays a factor..

Pitches are absolutely so flat that even the legendery Garner would have had trouble getting the ball to bounce waist-high.

Such wickets make bowlers look like fools! Totally 1-sided to the batsmen.. IMO

India in South Africa will be an interesting tour to determine just how good India really is.

I think India on paper at least have the the edge in the One day matches, SA are not really particularly good as a One day side at present. Test matches will be very interesting to see how good the next generation of India (batting in particular) really is. Bowling remains a bit of a concern in both formats.

i am looking fwd to Ind vs SA tour

the WI games were a waste of time...i stayed up late nights to watch some games but then decided it better to sleep
would be interesting to see how the youth performs...hopefully my favorite Rahane plays well :)

Wonder if they can make a place for Rahane in the test team. Maybe a toss up between Jadeja (who was previously the no. 7 in the test team) and Rahane. I suspect Jadeja will retain the spot at least for the first test. Don't really see Rahane breaking into the one day matches.

I would really go with Rahane keeping in mind SA conditions.. Jadega is great playing in Indian conditions, and though another story abroad!
