Title: Is captains choice the worst value for money in cricket?
Post by: SOULMAN1012 on November 08, 2013, 11:17:40 PM
I am a big fan of Gray Nicolls in general and always think that they produce great bats and a price point for all and have a great mixture of standard traditional and modern with a twist product range.

However just seen that the Captains Choice next season will cost £1132 (random figure I know). Does this really offer good value for money in people's opinion? Yes I know you get to meet Cook and have a top grade bat made for you but that price tag is HUGE. In comparison most companies will give you a custom fit option for far less money. I have spent some serious money in recent times on willow but even I do not think this can be justified. Interested to hear others views.

You are paying for access to the England captain. Do you think it is worth 600-700 quid? I know people who would pay that.

Cenkos is right up there! That is an absurd price though, how can they justify hiking it up by that much?!

To my knowledge, they have got rid of captains choice, certainly it isn't on the price list i have access to.

They still do the legend experience, which is a factory visit and a Legend custom made for you. We would sell this for 550 pounds.

I saw it today mentioned on a twitter thread, I also thought someone said it was being stopped but would appear not.

Their website reminds me of something, but can't put my finger on it.

No idea why/how people are selling a service that doesn't exist anymore (i'm the first to admit it is still on our site, it will be off soon)

BREAKING NEWS ...... CHRIS NOT INTERESTED IN BUYING BAT SHOCKER!!!!!! ;-)

you feeling ok bud?

I do agree though, kid at my club did this with Strauss a couple of years ago. Bat broke after 2 nets, GN were superb about it and replaced it by it left a bit of a sour taste to the experience and the price

I'd love to spend some time one on one with Cook but for over a k I'd want coaching with him, one of his bats! And goodies. Stupid price for people with more money than sense.

If its the kid I'm thinking of (can't remember his name ) I believe he gets anything he wants from bank of mum and dad, plays in your 4th team I think, the bat he had looked nice on the GN you tube video.

Yea I like buying bats but that price is silly, even if I didn't work at Salix I could 3-4 custom made Salix for that or a custom bat from nearly all the forum sponsors for the same price lol

Worst Value for money in cricket - Robin Uttappa... $2.1 million in 2012 IPL!

For £1132, you get Captain Cook AND a bat!!!!

It's not overspending if it is within your means.
