Anybody in the Croydon area want to join me for a midweek nets session at Cricket4Change?
It is £24 for an hour, we don't get the use of any machines, hence I need a buddy lol
-
I'm up for that. Only live in Morden
-
Is this the one where Wallington play their home games?
-
could well be interested and might even be able to round up a few more.
-
Better surface than the oval too!

Not sure to be honest, the nets are indoor.
This is their website: http://www.cricketforchange.org.uk/about/indoor_cricket_school (http://www.cricketforchange.org.uk/about/indoor_cricket_school)

Please do lol I am not that good at balling lol
-
I think they largely fall into that bowling category

Cool! Well we are allowed a max of 8 people per net.
Let me know what day and time suits you guys and I will sort it out. I cannot do Fridays :)
-
I should be fine for this, I live in Guildford but can do the trip up.
-
I'll ask around but they tend to be mid week boys
-
Midweek is all I can do as well
-
Mondays or wednesdays best for for me, although I can always move my gym nights
-
I'm up for this, you could possibly try Tim2000s, Soulman and Buzz to.
However, I am a bit poo - so be gentle with me!
-
I am certainly up for this!
-
Well I have called them up regarding times and dates. Wednesday and Thursdays currently are fully booked in the evenings.
The best day is Monday where they have loads and loads of spots.
Monday 18th 7pm to 9pm is free
Monday 25th 7pm to 9pm is free
Obviously we can do 1 hour slots but I think if we get 8 people a 2 hour slot would be better.
Both nets are free on those days and times.
If you are seriously interested please put your name down on the list.... I will start lol

Don't be such a bumder! I guarantee you are fitter and thinner than me!
-
Thinner maybe, but a torn pec and dodgy knee cartiledge begs to differ on the fitness side!
-

No worries buddy, I was not really expecting more than 2, lol
More the merrier.
-
Even half a dozen would give us all a decent amount of batting time and only work out as £8 each

That is if we do the full 2 hours. If that is okay with everyone.
-
I'm happy with 2 hours
-

-
Two hours makes it worthwhile for me to make the trip up.
-
There's also a pub at the end of the road too for post net refreshments!

You may be poor, but you have a good-looking girlfriend, a six-pack and a shiny BMW. My heart is hardly bleeding!

Better get knocking the new willow in boys!!!!!
-
Better get my new bat made and knocked in then!
-
Hope someone remembers to bring some balls!
-
18th is better but I can do the 25th. I will have a few balls I can chuck in the bag. They won't be shiny new balls. As a spinner I don't have any use for those....
-
Hope someone remembers to bring some balls!
Got about half a dozen Surrey Championship old balls
-
thanks guys - I know fine well I don't have any balls in my bag (cricket bag, that is).
-

Does anyone have a sidearm pro? If so could you bring it to the nets so that I can try it out.
Thanks
-
I've got one somewhere. I'll try and dig it out
-
YAY Thanks
-
So who is bringing what? I've a special which is relevant to recent discussions on here for people to try out and draw some conclusions...

Aldred, DS Custom and my Pakistani Wonder

Bringing the HitsHard gear for people to play with if they so wish. Picking up a couple tomorrow which I will bring along and may get a little go if the bowling is friendly
-
A quick synopsis of the net....
Fattus took the most wickets and generally felt he was awesome.
Hitshard bats, well, the ones we used, are most excellent, and Chris's match bat was stunning.
Kookaburra bats three letter acronyms are simply for shipping.
Wicketkeepers apparently make great bowlers (according to the keepers playing).

lol sounds like fun was had!
Anyone around the worcester area keen? :)
-
Great night, thanks again guys!
-
Thanks to everyone who came down! Some decent kit on show!
Oh and that Hitshard! Yum yum yum!
Good night! Very informative to!
-
Thanks guys great evening and as always great to meet new faces.
Just off to bed now with my HitsHard. Just want to make sure KRS hasn't followed me home with the intention of stealing my MoJo :D
-
That HitsHard is Fabulous. I think we all wanted to take it home...
-
I don't know about anyone else, but I am feeling it this morning. Tomorrow will be when it properly kicks in. Well worth it though. Thanks for arranging it.
On a different note, we tried out a Slazenger V100 TAS Test last night, given the recent interest in TAS inserts. £70 from the Lord's sale and despite the huge amount of concaving, it surprised us (well Charliemott and me, I don't know if anyone else used it). The middle was actually decent, and I really couldn't tell you whether the TAS inserts make a difference. What they do seem to do is cause the bat to make a slightly unusual sound. Whilst the HitsHard that we all fell in love with was the bar setting bat, at 200 notes fewer, it would score you a fair few runs
Plenty of lovely willow on display, including Aldred, GN, GM, Kook, HitsHard, Salix and B3. I think everyone got plenty out of it and we are now waiting for Fattus to put his pics into the topic...
Oops, and I nearly failed to mention that as a result of a couple of hours bowling at people, I even managed to loosen my big toenail from the nailbed.... That'll be falling off soon!
-
Had a great time last night. Shame I was a bit poo! (I blame a combination of winter rust and niggly injuries!) Got a nice purple cherry on my thigh where somehow Tim or Fattus managed to miss my strettons!
Soulman's hitshard gear looked top notch. Shame I'd batted before it all came out!
-
There was certainly a lot of bat stroking going on with many a covetous glance at the HitsHard bats in particular. There was more big wood on show and more 'oohs and ahs' than in a film of dubious nature.
Big thanks to Kaedyn for arranging it - without someone driving a project such as this it never comes to pass.
My personal highlight of the evening was surviving a Fattus hattrick ball which contributed to the common good as none of us would have heard the last of it.
However, I am now, officially, Bruce's rabbit, which is something of an elevation for me as I am usually classed as a ferret in the batting line up.
Again, thanks to everyone, with special mention to Chris Soulman who clocked up mega miles to bring some superb gear to look at and use.
To quote the late Steve Marriott: 'we really had a gas'.
-
That hits hard was absolutely immense! A follow up on what Tim said about the tas,it has an absolute gun of a middle, is very concave, and makes the most bizzare sound if you middle it. It's a lovely bat, but I couldn't use it simply because of that sound :( fattus had a lovely nemesis too but I only manage to hit a couple well with it.
-
You used the nemesis more effectively than tim!
-
You used the nemesis more effectively than tim!
Yup. I hated it.
-
I think the fact you used it after the hitshard made it harder to like!
-
I'm thinking of changing my name to Waqar Fattus, as I was totes amaze-swingballs!!!
Pics will go up a little later, lovely to meet you all - I'm thinking of making a stew with all the rabbits I caught!!!!

From memory mate your line and length fell to pieces when faced with that Hits hard blade staring back at you lol.
-
I was lulling you!
-
I was annoyed that I had to miss this due to work commitments. I will hope to make the next one.
-
I was annoyed too - I had to shoulder most of the burden of bowling (what a hero!)
It is fair to say that most of my victims were mesmerised by the sight of a large, baldy figure lumbering in and unleashing deliveries that seemed at least 2 yards slower than they expected.
I am stiffer than a pervert's hanky now though.
-
Sorry Brucie!! I wish I could have helped you out on the bowling but I was rubbish!! You were getting enough wickets to share around anyway.
I am still dreaming about that Hitshard! The softs are awesome to! HITS on the knuckles of one glove and HARD on the other! SO GANGSTER!!!

I will post some pics up of the HitsHard that you all enjoyed so much, thanks to you all for the cherries on the inside edge, come start of the season the bowler will think I'm a rabbit and lure him to a false sense of security :-[

D'you know, I couldn't work out why it looked like I was bowling right-handed - now I know it's because it's you!!!!!!!!!! It must be a worry for you that we look so alike! There was me admiring my high knee lift - what a twonk!!!
Mind you, I reckon you've got the biggest rack out of the two of us :D

Mate my rack is getting bad and needs attention quickly on a serious note I reckon I've lost a good 5-10mph over the past couple of years due to weight gain. Will defiantly need to pull my finger out over pre-season
But yes you are right about you being a twonk, although a very pleasant twonk with very handy bowling action to knock that swings perfectly into the middle of a bat

How rude from a man who went to the pub in his onesie!

They're sample pads I got as part of a brand I run
