Title: Powerspots Powerspots Powerspots
Post by: Vitas Cricket on November 21, 2013, 03:46:38 PM
Most Powerspots seem to be a little on the heavier side of 2'10, much like last years Dynadrive. I have managed to secure a 2'9 for a pre-order customer though.

Lovely shape, no concaving either.

Hoping to get more in the new year if they sell well.

I know this sounds pedantic but....

...why is the blue Powerspot no longer placed at the height of the swell....surely that being the most powerful spot on the bat?

I agree with you, as for why it is like that, I am not sure really. It does fit nicely with the semi circular shape of the bottom of the red splice sticker at the back.

Hmmm. Looks suspiciously like the powerspot of old in profile. Bet it hasn't got a middle either :)

As far as I can recall there was never a power spot that looked anything like that, sticker wise I mean.

Our very very old club powerspot has the same stickers. Think it's an early 90s one?

Must be me then, I can remember the Gower like one, with a gold spot on the back, and the ones used by athers, more like these but with bands around the shoulder area... Any pictures?

Ross, the mid-eighties one did have the gold spot, and the athers early nineties one was similar to this but with the shoulder bands. The 'retro' range hasn't stuck to the nineties style that we remember for powerspot and dynadrive. They've combined it with an almost sixties gn look.

Yeah that's what I thought, Tim,

Thought I'd missed a few years of power spots!

Not true

The original powerspots never had the six marlets either side of the GN label on the face, and by the time they used the blue spot on the back, they also had the wrap around stripes linking front and rear labels

The UK version of the Viper from about 2007 was very close to the GN500 Pro Balance / 4 scoop.

I'd love to see either re-introduced

Brings back golden memories of getting ratted at numerous pubs after cricket  ;) My mate had one and left it in one of the pubs, we couldn't remember which one :-[
