Title: Is a refurb/clean up required?
Post by: mdg20 on November 24, 2013, 01:54:47 AM
After a poor couple of years with the bat using my GN Fusion which ive decided is too heavy for me now im contemplating return to a Powerbow i had a couple of years ago. The bat has still got a superb middle and from what i can tell through the scuff sheet apart from small surface cracks is in decent condition.

There is a bit of swelling on the toe, the toe guard is worn and theres a few chips at the bottom. Theres also some dents and marks on the back.

My question is really, is it worth sending it to GN for a clean up and a bit of sanding down and re-oiling etc etc (i'm useless at this stuff so i'm not doing it myself) would this prolong the life of the bat will it affect its current "ping" or is it better to save my cash, leave it and play with it as it is in its scruffy-ish state until it eventually dies?

Pics of bat are below (sorry for the poor quality!)

Yeah, I recon it needs just a few things though. Maybe a new anti scuff sheet a sand and re-oil also a toe guard if you want and a new grip ;).

Send it to jake at vitas cricket, he did an amazing job on my Salix that had delaminated, as for £20 including postage back to you it's a steal! Also I can keep a few of the stickers on maybe the top GN ones and sand round them if that's what you'd want!
Send him a pm :)

I'd send it off to Gray Nicolls...
They'll do a great job and whack some brand new stickers of your choice on.

Give it a re-furb, they clean up nicely

That's just the mucky scuff. Peel that off and spend a bit of time and care cleaning of the glue and sanding plus a coat of oil and you'll save yourself £30.
