Title: Sweaty helmet syndrome
Post by: BigBlueMachine on November 27, 2013, 09:08:16 AM
I had an issue on the weekend. Now I'm generally on the more sweaty sides of things whilst batting. However on the weekend I got to a stage where I had sweated so much the sweat was dripping from my helmet. I did the press the helmet against forehead trick to squeeze as much out as possible but this was only a temporary solution. I was at a stage where whilst running, sweat was flying out, so much so it was landing on the back of my bat. The only way to deal with this was to get rid of my helmet and turn to the trusty cap. This is not an option I'm too keen on.

Apart from buying multiple helmets and having a backup in case of sweat (like batting gloves) was wondering if there is anything others do or any helpful advice.

FYI I bat in a Masuri Ti helmet.

getting hold of some spare swappa bands to interchange once one is saturated is prob ur best option. Relatively cheap compared to buying a new spare helmet.

im sure some of the retailers on here would be able to source them for you.

Failing that, I find a headband or bandanna under your lid does the trick

I want a bandana, can anybody recommend one?

Cheers for the feedback. Don't want to add anything like a headband or bandana as that would affect the fit of my lid. Looking at the swappa bands as I'm in Aus I've found they are sold at Greg Chappell CC.

Presumably this? Bottom right.

correct yes, they should be changeable in the helmet then.

We have supplied 3 sets of different thickness of padding with the new PremierTek models so if people do sweat through one at least they have a couple of spares (even if they are a big thinner/thicker than their normal one they use).

I'd recommend a Halo II from Halo Headband UK Ltd www.haloheadbanduk.com/product-category/halo-ii-pullover-sweatband (http://www.haloheadbanduk.com/product-category/halo-ii-pullover-sweatband)

Well priced, not chunky (like a headband) and worked for me last season.

A more ventilated box helps, oh you're on about a different sweaty helmet syndrome...  :-[

Are those halo sweatbands decent under an Ayrtek lid?

This might work well and you can look like Federer when your lid is off.

Loads of them down our way (Croydon) even plain white ones. Cost about £3 for the full head cover ones from memory.

I've seent he Halo oned and they'r really godo because they have a band to stop sweat running down your forehead.

However after use this band leaves a deep indentation line across your forehead for several hours so not so good if you're up on the smash after a game!

Fine in my Masuri, but I've not tried a Ayrtek lid. Cant see it being a problem though.

If all else fails cultivate a 'mono-brow' like the Gallagher brothers

I've used a halo headband under an ayrtek lid with no problems. I sweat buckets usually and the halo certainly helps. I didn't end up with marks on my forehead but maybe that's because I never batted long enough.

I sweat bucket loads when I bat regardless if it's boiling hot or cold. I end up looking like I have got out the shower if I have batted a long time (big if there!). Might have to look into getting a headband for the summer.

I could do with a couple new swoppa bands for my Masuri, any forum sponsors or people can pm if you have a couple for sale.
