After all the hot air about facing 3rd string bowlers in their tour games...

Interesting that Ballance batted at 3 and Bell at 6. I wonder if this is any indication on who may bat at 3 for England in the 2nd test...

Are you speculating that England would opt for Ballance at 3 for the next test?

I want some of what your smoking.

The UK commentators were waffling on how Ballance reminds them of Trott the way he bats... Bunch of dicks

If he is a contender for next week don't you think they put him in at three to get some time in the middle seeing as he'd faced about five balls on tour?

I doubt they see him as a three in Tests.

Although it would be odd, I could see them doing that, batting him at three to minimise the unsettling of the other players..

To be fair, if they don't play Bairstow, you really have to ask what the point of him being on the tour is.  He is possibly a future England keeper, and is potentially one of the best, but he has not had the time or opportunity to become an established keeper at county level because he keeps getting called up.

Agreed.  I think the problem they face is that they have settled one, four, five and seven and are shoehorning three more in; any of them could bat six but none are natural three dogs.  I would personally bat Root three and Bairstow six but who knows - it could be Prior six and Stokes seven?

They should push Root to no.3 and get Stokes in..They bowling looked tired and weak. Stokes will give them options.

Post by: Johnny on November 29, 2013, 05:52:07 PM
Bowling was weak and tired due to the batters not giving them enough opportunity to rest properly

Tough call - I think England have pretty much decided that Stokes is their long term all rounder, much as they have decided that Bairstow will succeed Prior.  If that is the case, why not give him a go?  At least at Adelaide where the pitch is likely not to expose the lack of a specialist bat and would probably reward playing Monty.

Not boasting it's just a bit of a worry for England that the Chairmans xi are really a bunch of club cricketers.. Not one player from Sheffield shield is in the team

Starting to get a little embarrassing for the England team now...

Chairmans xi overtaken England's score and now number 9 Muirhead smashing Finn for 2 fours....

Chairmans xi 7/235

The seamers aren't looking very impressive at all

Swann 4 wickets
Panesar 3 wickets

Jokes are racist now a days, whether they are by mistake, meant in jest or indeed meant exactly how hey sound. Ignorance is no excuse

Because Monty is of Asian descent.

It is no different to going up to an Aussie and saying "G'Day mate" in an Aussie accent.

If he had done it to a white skinned cricketer, and put on a 'proper' English accent, would he have had the same outcome? Probably not.

What he did was wrong, a gross misjudgement on his part, but to label him a racist is, in my opinion, a bit harsh. He has already lost his job over it.

Got called an Aussie Kangaroo (No Swearing Please) this year by a Sri Lankan when I was over playing in the UK. Of course I laughed and shrugged it off. Just imagine if it'd been the other way round!

Well then maybe you need to read the forum code of conduct regarding abusive language and the substitution of symbols for letters...

Monty is Luton born and bred. As English as anybody. Commentators are supposed to do research and he's failed big time.

That page will take less than 5 minutes of your time to read, and it seems pointless someone else copying and pasting the content to you because you can't be bothered to click a hyperlink...  ???

I think it would be a good idea to find some time to read the forum code of conduct considering you are a member of this forum and obviously you aren't too sure how to behave as yet and I would hate  for your ignorance to lead to a ban

No need for that. They are only saying it as it makes everyone's life better, just because you can't be bothered isn't really valid. You'll be the first to shout should something. Rules are there to make things better for everyone and like Cameron says, take 5 mins. I can promise that you have 5 mins spare ! No one is THAT busy
