We took delivery of the 1st batch of adidas helmets on wednesday last week, exciting times as its the first time we have taken delivery of a container load of goods!
The uplift in volumes since we 1st started out and I used to spray the helmets in my parents garage has been an interesting journey since we set the company up in 2007. After a manic few days at the tail end of last week we have processed all forward orders from our retailers and stock has been sent out to arrive with them either on Friday last week or Monday this week.
The final product that has arrived are just what we hoped for and hopefully they are well received by the end users as well. With the new BSI publication imminent the product offers a future proof investment in terms of meeting and excelling against the new standard. The new range is also lighter than the previous Ayrtek range and uses a more traditional EPS liner in the PremierTek models whilst the RawTek still uses the A.C.I.S liner and Carbon Fibre shell.

To celebrate this arrival we are giving away a helmet via Twitter that can be entered here by simply RT'ing the below message (some of you have already taken part so thank you for that)

We have several new Pros lined up to use the helmet in 2014 and are sending out lids to various destinations which include so snazzy BBL lids that ill put pics up of tomorrow before they head out to Oz.

Congrats on these, Tom! Ours have apparently just arrived in the shop. I look forward to a full inspection tomorrow morning! We have at least decided on the prices...
I like the look of a purple helmet, by the way! Might have to come back to you for one myself closer to the season!

I'm pleased to say we will be stocking Ayrtek this year too...we should have our delivery in on Wednesday.
-
Both look quite snazzy once finished off I think some pin stripes would have added to these but thought I'd best leave them without to be on the safe side :)
-
I was waiting for all the purple helmet jokes.....
Sending any to the Scorchers Tom?
-
Not as yet mate our distributor is Oz is doing all the ground work so were simply doing what we do and churning out the orders. These left today and now onto processing some for Brisbane grammar school in time for their tour in early Jan :)
-
Looks stunning, any price hint.
-
These are custom made RawTeks so would come in at the £249.99 markers + artwork

Why does this look like something from a seventies porn film?

Showing your age and preferences there Timothy ;)

We were contacted by The Cricketer magazine and asked to submit a helmet as they were writing an article about the new Bsi safety changes, we received a copy yesterday and were delighted with the review :) seems the Bsi article has been pushed back into next issue.
As the flagship model the RawTek uses all the materials and technology that we have at our disposal.

So the RawTek is 100g lighter than the PremierTek, despite having a pump system? Also, what happens when the pump stops working? Is there a warranty?

That's because the RawTek is carbon fibre mate.
And I've not heard of the ACIS lining stopping working so I don't think that it's a big issue :)
-
I read that carberrys lining came loose.
Surely it would be possibly to obtain a new lining and glue it in to replace a damaged?
also only top of the range now comes with acis lining, the rest come with a more traditional set up.

The lining is velcro'd in now buddy, replacement/repositioning is now even easier

Read your review in the other thread.. I currently use a Masuri Titanium. I understand the lighter weight, fit etc, but would you say the visibility etc is any better with the RawTek? Seems VERY similar to the Masuri in terms of how the grill etc can be adjusted..
-
Im pretty sure mines glued in? Could be wrong though.
I have a masuri titanium, and a rawtek.
Rawtek is lighter, and fits my head better. Vision seems a tad better.
But the triangular chin straps annoy my eyes. Why so big!

For me an Ayrtek/Aditek has the best visibility of any helmet I've used (and there's been a few!)
I think it's partly down to there not being any of the horse blinker things on the side (which I removed from my Masuri anyway) but I do feel it's better.
The ACIS also makes it a totally custom fir to your head which is where the Ayrtek/Aditek is streets ahead of it's competition.

mind showing us a pic of your "settings" (i.e. how you've set the grill up)?
-
Ears, not eyes, dam autocorrect. Lol

Give me half an hour mate!
Got it on the narrowest setting as I'm a paranoid wuss haha
-
I have mine set on what ayrtek recommends for non ball penetration.
It comes with a leaflet that's shows you optimal settings.
-
Sorry lads been at indoor cricket and just seen this...
Grills are set to suggestion position when sent out for a 55mm gap, liners in the RawTek are Velcro fixed now so that the liners can easily be replaced if they become worn/smelly with use.
Carberry's liner was Velcro fixed so would have been easy to sort out but tricky when he's in Oz so was easier to send a new lid. With the rigorous use from the daily nets and heat the Velcro came unstuck but this was an older version which we have since amended to use more Velcro tabs. They come with a warranty and we will obviously assist when we can if a problem ever arrives with them.
Ear strap lengths can be custom length on RawTek models if they need adjusting as they are easy to break down as components if required/desired too :)

Thanks for being so helpful. Is this noticeably lighter than the Masuri Titanium?

It feels lighter on the head to me, but that may be down to the more cushioned fit thanks to the ACIS system.
And a picture of my grille setting as promised

Nice choice mr pye. Same as mine but I don't. Have the pin striping.

Do we get commission Tom?? ;)
-
only if it leads to more runs
-
first off - tremendous service. one of the best I've experienced - made things really easy for me.
how have you guys found the pumping adjustment mechanism? i feel like the helmet starts rising up quickly, and then i find myself trying to keep it down, on my head!
also, thinking of using a bandana for sweat absorption, instead the sweat bands..may also help in a better fit.

When it starts rising you have pumped up too much, or your chinstrap is exceptionally loose.

As Jake said - before you start pumping you need to get the chin strap in place and tight. Then pump the lid until it is perfect on your noggin. If you pump with the chin strap wrong it will be very odd.
-
It a that in the leaflet. Too many pumps will make it rise.
I think I only need 4/5 pumps for my to fit well.

Do you leave yours pumped when you remove it??
I do that & give it a pump or 2 when I put it on
-
I currently let the air out, but nit sure how long I'll keep, doing that for, especially in a game when I'm moody cos I'm out.
-
this probably sounds a bit bonkers, but when I tighten the chin strap, it does feel nice and tight ON MY CHIN, but NOT on the helmet. as in, my chin is being pulled up towards the helmet, but the side straps feel loose between the clips and the actual helmet. so, feels tight on the chin, but the helmet is not being pulled down.
-
Tweeted a picture just now of Robin shaking hands with out first Junior Aditekker, he's very pleased :)\

I had issues with the fit so what I did was completely deflate the liner, then put the helmet on and adjust the chin straps tight enough that helmet moved sideways when i shook my head but would not fall off (bounce/move up/down too much)...once you get there then start pumping it till it feels snug and no side to side movement...this is tricky because of the nature of the liner inside being smooth there will always be some movement so if you feel it start to rise let a little bit of air out and pump again...you will very quickly find out when it starts rising off your head..usually for me when i feel the helmet is rising i do quick push to let the air out and then one or one and half pump more is perfect fit...takes a little getting used to as well, I have found helmets always feel loose unless they are the kind with the adjustment dial on the back etc...
-
thanks will try that out.. also have the bandana or headband option.
-
the bandanda works really well. helmet slips a lot less, and sweat absorptions is awesome. i had initially planned to instal the sweat pad on the front, but not anymore (I was also afraid of it messing up the balance of the helmet, and making it front-heavy).
-
After about a month and a half of consistent use, have to say, this is by far the best helmet I've ever worn. The service was obviously outstanding, but the product itself is now undoubtedly awesome, in my view. Nice work guys.
-
Thanks for the kind words and feedback, glad ur getting on well with it :)
-
anyone selling the same helmet ? i am really interested in this one.
Nice choice mr pye. Same as mine but I don't. Have the pin striping.

Any news on a Youth or Small Men's size with a titanium grille? I ordered a custom black one a while ago and disappointingly, it was just too big for my noggin. ???

Every time I see a photo of Robin, a funky wah-wah guitar soundtrack starts up in my head. :D

Matt yes we have the Youth model in stock now which has a range guide size of 55-57cm, they come with a steel grille but can have a Ti one added.
Cheers
Tom
-
Ah, good stuff. What would that set me back, Tom?
-
Being a Youth model they are VAT exempt so the RRP on them with a steel grille is £44.99 but are prob discounted through our retailers down from this.
If you wanted to add a titanium grille to it we usually charge £30 for an upgrade when purchasing with a helmet or £44.99 if purchased separately.
-
Sounds good. Thanks, Tom.
-
Reading the previous posts people talk about having your chin strap tight. I personally can't stand having my chin strap tight as it feels restricting when I bat. I currently use an old Masuri but I am looking for a new lid and was considering moving away from Masuri to Ayrtek.
Just wondering if this will mean I have to wear the chin strap tight all the time meaning an ayrtek isn't for me? I appreciate it's probably safest to have it tight but I really cant stand it and have to remove the cup that sits on your chin.
-
Buy one with a eps liner and not an acis liner.
The eps is standard style liner using pads to adjust size. Means it sits and stays other the chin strapped needing to be tight
I switched to a eps liner and prefer
-
How can you tighten the eps? I have a small head hence why I thought the ayrtek might suit me for fit.
-
There are different thicknesses of pads included - I don't know what dimensions they go from and to but given they only have one adult size they cover quite a diameter! Apart from that I think there are Junior/Youth options too.
-
Adult padding is 6/9 and 12mm whilst the Youth padding is 12/15 and 18mm.
Depending on the size/shape of your head the models offer the size ranges below:-
JNR- 52-55cm
Youth- 55-57cm
SNR- 58-64cm
-

If you have a small head a youth size might work, cheaper too :)
-
I use the acis liner and have never had the chin tight so it can fit without it tight as I think its been about 3-4 years ive had mine and no issues
