Who do you see replacing him? Haven't heard/read anything about Gilo taking over, don't think he would be up to it anyway. Any ex players spring to mind at all? Anyone out of work?
-
Gary Kirsten? isn't he leaving SA soon?

Gary Kirsten left the Proteas 12 months ago. He's not looking to coach overseas as his got two young kids, hence why he left the Indian setup after he bagged the World Cup.
And he's still on CSA's books as the Proteas batting consultant.

Tells you how much i keep up with current affairs lol....

Stephen Fleming would be a leading contender, if he ever decides to become an international coach.

Ricky Ponting

Micky Arthur........

Gooch

It'll be Giles - promoting from within being the way Team England operates.
-
Flower, like many of the players, suddenly looks very tired and I think he would benefit from an extended break from the game with the personal circumstances he's been dealing with.
Don't want Gooch or Giles anywhere near it. Both background men without the character of Flower (I appreciate that Gooch led from the front as a player).
I would quite like Tom Moody.

Giles strikes me as a poor option at the moment. I feel our one-day side has gone backwards since he took over.
-
I would go for John Emburey with a backroom team of Toby Radford (Performance/Fitness), Graham Gooch and Rahul Dravid (Batting), David Saker and Mushtaq Ahmed (Bowling).
Controversial but I think, interesting :-[

Not sure Emburey is ready to retire (last I heard he was still playing club cricket!)

Anyone want to see the return of Bumble? Mind you I'd miss him from the commentary box too much.

I hope not. Giles hasn't made much progress with the one day side.
I would like to see Gary Kirsten - but I don't think he'll come to England.
-
Moody is a good shout. Not sure if there are many candidates from county cricket, Peter moores anyone?
-
The only one from county cricket might be Moxon; which as a Yorkshire fan I like, but as an England fan I would hate. Other than that they're either past it, not up to it, tainted by association with Peter Moores or not yet there.

Fattus would do a good job, no?
Can't see Flower going, can't see him being pushed out either. What i can see is a gritty old warrior of a cricketer who has formed a great team that for whatever reason (age, over confidence/lack of desire, mental issues, injury etc) is now entering that phase I hate; 'transition.' (Surely every bloody team ever is in transition?!?)
Does he have the will to build a new team? I believe so. There are also some good signs to point towards the future; Root, Carberry (maybe not long term future due to age, though he is a fine athlete, but he is new to the team) Stokes and it looks like Bell has finally developed some grit and nous to go with all that talent.
Cook
Carberry
Bell
Root
Stokes
Broad
Bresnan
Anderson
Is a decent 8 to form a core of a side, with questions marks over KP, Prior, Swann and Trott. If at least 2 of them remain for at least a few more years and get their heads back in the game, then we have some wonderful senior players to pass on experience as well as being talented cricketers.
Wh else gets a proper go now? Onions? Finn? Bairstow? Taylor? Morgan? Tredwell? Ballance?
All that being said, i do believe Flower will be there to oversee whatever happens in the coming years.
-
Tredwell is nowhere near good enough to play test cricket for England

IMO jimmy Anderson doesn't have too many years left in him, Flower has already admitted to being worried about burnout with him. Test match bowling must take its toll. I think we need a really good young spinner, not Kerrigan. Not many quality youngsters coming through in that respect. Tymal Mills has to be given a chance as do Finn and Onions. Great to see stokes doing well because he adds another dimension to the team with his bowling. I personally think Bell will become captain before the next ashes. Broad is a good player when things are going his way but hasn't showed much grit.

I feel I am ready, and offer better man-management skills that the other names offered up.
Besides - imagine how many dinners I'd get invited to!

Gooch
Please any but the Ilford Idiot. ( and Boycott)
