I have just seen on Twitter some new spartan sticks with new labels. The two are the MC player and MJ player. New stickers/labels/decals seem an improvement.
What do we all think?

I like the Johnson one
-
Yeah there is more on the spartan cricket twitter page.
-
Johnson is using the new ones now. I didn't see Clarke bat but assume he had the new ones as well.
-
Clarkes is very puma colour
-
Not sure on the highlighter yellow for the MC bats, the blue/white/chrome colour scheme is one I like without the need for that. Mitch's looks great though, red and black are my favourite colours!
-
Simply hate everything about Spartan, saw plenty of the bats and sifts in Aus and they just look crap to me
-
Never been a big Spartan fan but I quite like the look of the Mitch Johnson bat if I'm honest.
-
I was a bit like that at first but they have got better. Some of the Clarke ones I've seen are stunners and there is also a Viv Richards model which are fantastic looking bats.
-
The Viv one I seen recently was spectacular
-
Spartan have changed their stickers again, shock!
It will amaze me if anyone buys one because they'll be an out if date model before the season is over with how often they get updated...
-
The thing that gets me with Spartan gear is that their main business was, and is primary school plastic sports gear. My childhood was filled with tonking the tennis ball out of the school grounds with Spartan plastic bats. So, in my mind, they'll always be viewed like that.
Not a fan of the new Clarke bat anyway. Mitch's isn't too bad, but that color scheme with the previous designed would've looked alright.
I don't understand why one would buy Spartan gear for the same price as established specialist cricket companies like GN, Kook, GM, etc. (I'm sure you guys know about the lack of variety of brands in Oz)

Fan of the Johnson one, don't really like the yellow on the MC spartan
-
Like the black and red. Looks very strong.

People will buy them because the Australian capt uses one, the Indian capt uses one & the man of the moment Mitchell Johnson uses one. That's great advertising for them. Plus the top end ones I have seen are every bit as good as the established brands.
Granted there are not many smaller custom made makers in Aus but there is still a good variety. As well as GN, Kook, GM you can get Puma, SS (Ton), Adidas, CA, BAS, SF, Slazenger, Steeden, County, Bradbury, Spartan, NB, Grove, Fearnley, Stuart Surridge anf SF from the major retailers. A fair bit of variety there.
My first experience with Spartan was of them making cheap rugby balls.

But from that list, I'd say 80% of the sales are with GN, Kook, GM, and Puma. Slaz and Ton rising up that list. Especially with juniors, where I play.
For example, my team's bats go: Salix, GN, Puma, Slaz, Kook, GN, GN, GN, SS, GN, GN.
You can probably tell who uses the Salix.
On topic, I guess that is good advertising. And I may have to take a look if they really are that good. Anyone got any idea who their batmaker is?

They must be loving Mitchell Johnson's resurgence, good advertising as many have said.
I've just ordered some Spartan softs, anyone know if these are changing too?
-
The Johnson one looks good but the MC one looks horrible. I'm a fan of the spartan stickers and the previous one looked way better
-
Have to agree about the MC bat. More brands should really go down the less is more route. There's a definite trend nowadays of larger, almost garish stickers. Previously I'd have always expected the looks from the big brands but quality from the boutique brands. Now it seems like the boutique brands are leading on both fronts, coming up with some of the classiest stickers and maintaining the quality we've all come to expect.

Too me that was Kookaburra and why I'll never touch Kook gear. Spartan seems to be taking their place in the market and is why no matter how much I like the look of the Spartan bars have so far avoided buying one.
