Title: Laminate bats?

Morning guys

I've noticed a few posts lately regarding laminate bats,

Now, this forums opened my eyes to various bat producers etc,, but, laminated bats?whats that all about?

I've spotted Ryan from sunny Wakefield turning out a couple of stunning looking bats that are laminated, but I'm at a loss as to what benefits these bats have,(I know they contravene mcc laws),
Is the performance/weight reduction/looks/ all an improvement on a traditional manufactured bat?
