Title: Prodirect Cricket Junior Bats and info about harrow bats needed
Post by: mussaduq on January 05, 2014, 09:29:52 PM
Hi all, as one of my very good bat broke I think It's time to buy another one. In the prodirect sale there's a gm flare le junior for 55 quid. But it's not written whether it's harrow or not it just says junior bat, so how do I know if it's a harrow or not ? What difference is there between a harrow and a Men SH bat in grains, edge size and spine height ? I've heard it's 2.1mm less in width and 0.75 inches less in height. So I'm 5'6 in height, should I go for a harrow bat ? A picture of a harrow and SH bat side by side would also be very helpful !

Mate its a size four. If you go and click on sizes they just have the size 4 left. Harrows will usually be smaller than their adult counterpart as they are a lot lighter.

Like I said above mate usually off the shelf harrows are lighter than men SH, so their edge size is smaller and so is the spine height. But Im sure a batmaker on the forum can make you a harrow in a SH weight...that would be a big bat. Grains can be the same as mens bats, just depends on the cleft really.

I have some harrows at 2'7 and even one at 2'9.

Seems there are a few people looking at this option at the moment.

The bat to the right is 2'9. The other 3 are 2'7. I have them in stock specifically with the 'bigger' child or the slightly smaller adult in mind.

I have more that might be suitable too. This is just a picture I posted to another forum member.

Sounds like you have been thinking along the same lines as me. Will be interested to hear how you get on. I have started to get cold feet about buying a harrow because of the narrower blade.
