Title: Mint condition GM Diamond Original
Post by: potzy248 on January 07, 2014, 11:49:47 PM
Check out this beauty I scored off Trademe in NZ. Bought for £70 and I must say it is in immaculate condition considering its age. No cracking what so ever, stickers all in very good condition, the only things that was bad was the grip…I then noticed it had two grips on and I took the top one off to expose a perfectly brand new grip underneath.
Its pretty heavy and picks up like a log but I had a quick hit with it and the ball flies. I'm just amazed its stayed this pristine.

Ahh this takes me back, used to be the most expensive bat out there at one point!

Are you a GM fan/collector? I'd love to see a thread in chronological order if anyone has the collection....or time.

In mid to late 80's I had maestro, maxi, cannon, diamond, purist, autograph and a galaxy(?) that I got off a pommie mate, had black stickers around the shoulders and some different kinda handle if I recall correctly?

I am a retro collector. I usually focus on older M & H bats but this caught my eye. I had a Maxi that I refurbished and sold on. It was huge and heavy.

I've one of these too, but mine weighs in at 2lb 7oz. I think the edges on it are about 10mm thick. Looks very small by today's standards.

This one's about 2.12 I would imagine. Have a look at the shoulders, looks like Dwayne the Rock Johnston's shoulders…Huge!

That bat looks like a part made - minus the edges

Both bats like in top nick. What year did the Diamond come out?

It was early nineties - 90/91 I think. I remember one of the guys at school having one.

Is it me, or does the diamonds profile looked like to was created with a band saw, and no hand tools at all?

Gms first effort of an automated bat?

Yeah the cuts are pretty straight, so would suggest a saw of some sort.
