Title: An idea for new stretton fox product.
Post by: smilley792 on January 09, 2014, 12:54:33 PM
Not sure on what you can produce for a price that's reasonable int he. Market but had an idea.

Stretton fox armoured bat covers!

I have a few padded bat covers, b3,gm, gray nics. But they are lightly padded and a decent bag drop, or someone standing on them in a small changin room still will damage a bat inside(and has)

Others on The market, soft pockets, and non padded covers like millichamps are really just for show. No protection offered.

So what can stretton build for us?
Protection thickness doesn't have to be of the thickness thigh pad etc are. As they are for accidental damage, rather than a 95,mph thunderbolt.
So a thinner layer of allround protection may bring price down,
No straps needed. Just Velcro or zip fastener at top.
Can be fully customisable! Or you could just make a set few colours styles for us to choose from.
Would prefer full length protection including handle.

What's can to offer stretton fox.

Well it's another product in the market, so if viable a money making scheme.
Plus strettons fox embroiled bat covers get your name out there, and people asking  and googling what you do.
Someone may log on for a bat cover, and come away with a full set off strettons.

Good idea or not?

If not viable as a business plan, i still may be interested in commissioning a few one offs, so you can email me, or pm me George.

..... romp, me George.

Im guessing that was an auto correct fail?  ;)

Good idea, wouldnt need much but a thin layer of something to protect the bat. Not sure how youd deal with sides of the bats where a traditonal bat covers seams would be without maxing it very boxy and taking up alot of space

I'd say a thin layer on the front, and rear just about wider than a bat. And then some stretchy, elasticated sides. The front/rear over hang should protect the sides from 99.9% of bumps.

Not a bad idea, maybe make it out of 6 sheets. 3 front 3 back so that it can be folded in third when not in use?

Just sounds a little expensive, complicated and unnecessary for the job it would do. What's wrong with current padded covers? surely they suffice

I don't think they offer the protection I want for a 300 pound plus bat.

It may well not be for everyone, I may be too expensive for some. But I'd really like 3 making up, if it's viable. I have emailed George anyway regarding.

I'd have some too! I totally agree maybe put a strap on it like the BAS covers have ?

It's a decent idea but I can't imagine it'll be very cheap to do - better off sticking with something like the Aedos bat cover - sure looks like it'll provide all the protection your bat would need!

Good idea, I am also sick of getting marks on my bats so I got some GM standard bat covers for Christmas and they've been brilliant so far when I've used them for winter nets etc

Smilley thanks for the post and email, my apologies for the delay replying.

It seems a lot of bat covers are mainly a cosmetic "finishing off" and although helping against general scuffing, i've been in changing rooms when there are so many bags you can't see the floor, and that risk of a direct spike if someone misplaces their feet could end in a horrible result.

Im the sort of person who would usually make sure the bat is out, upright and as far away from harm as poss, but agree the risk of it being moved, dropped, etc is still there.

Love the Aedos cover, well done to them for thinking outside the box (no pun intended !) and nice looking blade too !

Either way ! I don't think that a case would need full SFox protection, but a shell solution would certainly be good. This could be done on a mass scale to have a good price, I am also working on a range of accessories called "Stretton Fox Collections" which will be launching in March but is taking a very very different direction in cases and covers and more linked to my background working in the luxury goods market. The retail on these will be very much high end but agree something could be done at the £15-£20 range and I know just the chap who can make them )
