Title: Small cricket brands
Post by: tommo256 on September 28, 2009, 08:39:49 PM
I was looking towards the new season and rather than buying from a company like gm,gn, kooka etc. I was going to look towards buying from a smaller company around.... I had taken a liking to hell4leather and shark but dont know much about them, any reviews and recommendations would be useful

Many Thanks
Tommo

Itias has had about a season now so only one less than H4L, Think i will have had one of the earlier bats from tom and its been fine so it cant of got any worse, so i would go with itias, gloves are great also

has anyone got any other brands they know of out there?

I wouldn't recommend Shark from what I've heard, I know of a couple of pro's who got sponsored by Shark at beginning of the year got given the kit, and returned it before the end of season as they didn't rate it! I've got a bit of Hawk gear here at the minute, some new pads and gloves in plain white designs similar to Newbery, seem quite nice, the bats are pretty good too.

Post by: Tom on September 28, 2009, 09:59:39 PM
Itias make by far the best softs there are going :P

Nah really, there's plenty of companies. Duck & Run, Fusion, Redback, CJI, Nixon

Post by: tommo256 on September 28, 2009, 10:03:39 PM
one of my friends has got hawk kit says it is really nice, bat is good pick up as well. One of my mates got offered 40% by shark.... Duck and run gear looks nice but apparently isnt greatly rated. Hawk seems expensive as well

you what?
Title: Re: Small cricket brands
Post by: Johnny on September 29, 2009, 08:12:18 AM
My club has a deal with CF - good bats, but the softs aren't great, and are a bit garish.

I thought Itias had jacked-in? I know Tom did have some left over stock that he was selling cheap.

I have Fusion pads at the moment that are really good, but they're a few seasons old and they don't do the same model any more.

Personally, I'm now completely bought into the custom bats from small brands idea, but in terms of softs I've tended to go with bigger brands as I can go to a shop and try them on, see how they feel (my fusion pads are the exception, but I did get given them for free! :) )

The club i played at for the last two seasons, the chairman was Charlie French so everyone seemed to have full CF kit bar me!, i rate his bats but i was also not much of a fan of the softs.

apple why should I not get dukes? I rang morrant today to make sure they have everything I want. Im going there tomorrow to buy the stuff so tell me if there is a genuine reason why I should not go for Dukes
Title: Re: Small cricket brands
Post by: Apple on September 29, 2009, 05:51:54 PM
because u can buy much better gear at the same price
Title: Re: Small cricket brands
Post by: musama91 on September 29, 2009, 06:00:49 PM
because u can buy much better gear at the same price

-Pittards leather gloves at £40
-Octopus rubber, gel padded wk gloves for £40

They are extremely good prices for the materials and technology you are getting. If you can get me any of the above equipment at a lower price, I will not buy Dukes. Simple as. In fact, If I compare them to other brands:

- Kookaburra Kahuna RP gloves (use pittards as well) - £50
- Puma Iridium 6000 WK gloves (similar stuff) - £55

Im sure you will have your own reasons but I beg to differ.

Beautiful gloves. M&H were banging on about their Distinction gloves being the only 5 split finger gloves in the market but they are wrong! (see below)
