Went to vitas cricket today to pick up several of my bats I'd had refurbed.
Just wanted to say thank you to Jake! He spent way too much time with me talking all things cricket equipment with me and I have to say I left the place really impressed. I looked at the new bags on offer (agree with Jake that the Gray Nichols 1000 bag is the one to go for this year, though would have been perfect if it had the pull out suitcase handle).
I also wanted to see the new cricket boots on offer for this year. Unfortunately the (new) Nike / Adidas boots weren't in yet (think February is the planned shipment date). Jake was kind enough though to let me try his own Nike boots (fortunately we are both size 10) and I can see why he has this as his boot of choice.
I must point out that at no point did Jake pressure me into buying anything! It was a real pleasure to be there and go through lots of his bats and get back into cricket fever (especially after the shocking ashes series).
The quality and amount of equipment was amazing, as of course was the few bits of gossip I learnt!
I really am looking forward to coming down to the next forum event in February where hopefully all the things I want to look at may be in!
Thanks again Jake!

Many thanks for the kind post mate, good to see you today. Hopefully the shoulder repair holds up. :)

I really wish there was a setup like vitas in Kent. I'm gonna go on dragons dens and see if I can get investment ;-)

Having lived in sidcup for 20 years I thought the same......Although living in Kidderminster now I wish there was one closer to here!

Give it 5 years or so and Worcester will hopefully be making an appearance! The plans are there...

Isn't there a forum member who just retired at 30 due to being loaded?

Sorry this has hijacked the original post but the cricket shops in Kent is pretty poor, let alone one with a net etc like Vitas. Quite a big catchment area and there isn't much completion (bar Paul and IJC but he's in London and us Kent folk are scare of the big city :-) )

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

As a vitas regular I can concur that a 5 minute stop
Often turns out to be an hour long visit and yarn

Totally agree, got chatting after a net last week, got in the car and noticed it'd been over an hour!
Didn't mind at all, it;s a pleasure talking all things cricket and Jake knows his stuff - wouldn't hesitate to buy on his recommendation...
