Title: Kookaburra Bubble UK
Post by: BigBlueMachine on January 13, 2014, 01:25:02 AM
When the retro Kookaburra Bubble was released a little part of me became really excited. Mainly for nostalgic reasons I really wanted one. So when IJC had a fantastic offer to pre-order and get 15% off and be able to have the bat hand picked it couldn't refuse. I gave Paul the specs I was looking for but also reiterated I'm not too fussed with looks, if he found me a performer then great. On the first visit to Kook Paul didn't find anything that he thought was suitable but said he would be going back and hoped to find me something, he also gave me the option to cancel with a full refund, which was fantastic but I was prepared to wait. He then emailed me over some pics of this bat. Even tho it didn't quite fit to my specs he said it responded very well and that was good enough for me...plus it looks stunning also!
Specs are
Weight: 2.10
Grains: 16
Edge: 38mm
Spine: 54mm
Concave: minimal

So far I've only tapped it up with a ball and mallet and it certainly gives of a nice sound and response. Hopefully take it for some throw downs on Tuesday at nets and give an update on performance.

That bat looks awesome. That high middle would do well over here in Aus. Loving the retro stuff coming back these days, hope the ridgeback isn't too far away!

Wow the grains look straight and the face is clean means it looks beautiful in my eyes,Paul picked a be a beauty shows once more the benefit of hand picking. I also love the shape , its nice to see these retro bats come back, wonder what is next in the pipeline from any of the big manufactures .
Overall hope it performs well and score many runs with it.

Yep Paul has done well, also his customer service is second to none. The bat is actually advertised as having a low middle. However it's not as low as some other bats I've seen with low middles. This bat will actually be used in australia so will be interesting to see how I get on with it.

Looks lovely, aesthetically it was the best looking bat on display during the Ashes (IMO), just a shame it happened to be in the hands of Brad Haddin.
