Title: CBF North vs South Game - 2014
Post by: Ams4287 on January 17, 2014, 04:17:10 PM
There was a thread the blackend of last season about organising a cbf game. With the game in kent vs Stone CC again on in August logistically is there interest for a North vs South match in the midlands (ish).

What are people's thoughts?

Is a week day feasible? If so I'm sure I could arrange a ground (North Notts just off the A1).

Would a weekend need to be the end of the season due to ground availability?

I will almost certainly be available to play in a midweek game regardless of a date.

We may even be able to provide the ground if it is midweek. If you class here:

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Ketton+Sports+Association,+Pit+Lane,+Ketton&aq=0&oq=ketton+sports+a&sll=52.638578,-0.553544&sspn=0.003581,0.009645&vpsrc=6&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=&ll=52.634964,-0.550797&spn=0.007162,0.01929&t=m&z=16&iwloc=A&cid=8511762736152987238

As midlands-ish.

A Saturday or Sunday would be better for people imo, also JoelJonno offered his ground that is in the beautiful city of York...so you's could lose your wives for the day aswell!

Been said a million times before - don't even bother discussing until:-

1. 2 people (1 for each side) agree to organise the teams
2. You have a confirmed venue and date
3. All the costs have been laid out

At that point you can all say you'll play. Whoever agrees to play pays upfront and the payment is non-refundable.

Given the difficulties we have getting 1 team out for a CBF match (technically I had roughly 15 drop outs for the last game) good luck!

Happy to offer it again, as long as there are no pre-scheduled games and doesn't clash with "Le Grande Depart".

Based on the advice we need a date proposal - July? And 2 experienced forum members as captains

i disagree. improve playing cricket every Saturday so deffo won't be available for that. as apt of other ppeople won't.
as for Sunday, when i play rep or cup cricket my miss givese silent treatment for a few days. so i doubt a Sunday .bf game will go down well.

but a Monday Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. i can book.off work abduction be there all day long.

My first Saturday game is 5th April, last is 13th Sept. No gaps on the season.

Sundays are more sporadic but as we have only just started up a new club i will be playing more Sundays than i would normally.

im sure my ground is too far south being in west somerset, but it would definitely be available, it is a new ground with very basic facilities but this does mean its cheap
