Dear All,
Recently, I posted a pic of a bat which I brought directly from Batman off eBay, where a crack appeared in the splice.
GM refused to replace/refurb, Batman was the same. So I sent the bat to GM for repair and this is how it came back;

The 'phantom' crack was a surface crack opening up due to a lack of moisture content (Currently being smothered in wax!!).
When GM sanded the offending 'crack' it disappeared.
GM admitted it was 'very convincing' until it was handed over to one of their batmakers who have 'seen this many times' - Not sure I have!!!
-
Cracks are fairly common here, due to the handle not fitting the splice correctly - therefore it is likely that the handle cut, is smaller than the splice fitting which causes the bat to vibrate around the handle which cause these cracks.
-
So have they just sanded the shoulder?

or the binding being too lose around the handle. I hope you made a claim against batman on ebay?

I was being ironic.
They said there is nothing to worry about that it is a surface crack only.
Guess we shall see!

Is this the Indian made GM Octane F2 you have put up on eBay?

I don't want to alarm your team mate but it appears that his bat is bleeding...

Nothing unusual, anyone that hangs around this forum long enough learns that bats have feelings too. You'd start bleeding as well if taken too with sandpaper

Is this the bat on ebay there no mention of a crack or any work done on it ????

I have put the issue in the description plus a picture of the said area.
Reduced it to £120 (Much less than I paid!). Its a very good price for that bat.

Thats definitely the fair thing to do!!

I'm nothing but honest. Sometimes too honest.
Someone will get a very good bat there. I STILL have 20+ so wouldn't get used.
