(http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o538/ItsJustCricket/2014-01-24135650_zps6cfeda06.jpg) (http://s1146.photobucket.com/user/ItsJustCricket/media/2014-01-24135650_zps6cfeda06.jpg.html)
Most bats weigh 2.8-2.10. I will update the thread with more photos, including close-up and profile shots, later today.
We also received a large stock of Salix bags and accessories, most of which has been added to our website now.
Cheers,
Paul

I can't see those bats hanging around for long somehow, lovely willow there!
-
I want an slx, so cleannnnnn
-
The SLX with the heartwood on the shoulder looks nice!! I like the blue hitshard stickers, are these the Power bats?

Yes the blue is power, red is super power and orange is grade one in HitsHard this season.

quite a small range of weights there Paul?
-
quite a small range of weights there Paul?
Probably the range that sells though.
When will they be on the website? Interested to see what the salix and hh sell for seeing as both there own websites aren't up to date
-
quite a small range of weights there Paul?
Well, we have a Pod Players in 2.12, and we even have a Long Blade bat in there too, Iain! It's only 2.10 though... All the pics have been taken and will be up here shortly.
-
quite a small range of weights there Paul?
Seems like the weight most people tend to ask for. I know that if I could lift the bats that were for sale in your thread at least one would have been bought!
-
Exactly. About 90% of the SH bats we sell are 2.7-2.10...
-
OK, here are the first photos. SLX and Pod bats - all in Players grade.

Nice bats.
John, the Torque and the Supernatural are pretty much the same except for one thing: the Supernatural has a traditional rounded face (7mm camber). The Torque has a flatter face and therefore slightly thicker edges...
-
Probably the range that sells though.
I accept that my 3lb+long blades are not the most saleable items. But surely there are lots of people who prefer something beyond 2lb 9oz out there?
-

something I do like about Salix bats is the way even the lower end ones look a million dollars. You can't fight the look of the willow itself, but the finishing is amazing!
-
That Supernatural Performance on the right is an absolute stunner... :( Oh dear...

I was going to say the same thing. Found it hard to spot the difference in profiles.

Am I mistaken Paul, or are the HH bats supposed to be a more affordable offshoot of the Salix brand?
-
Paul, Any of these on par with my wasp that I got from you last year of response?

Yes mate exactly, same hand made bats, same great finishing just lower price points.

Thanks Chris, some super looking sticks there!
-
I have to say that the HH bats are growing on me - they certainly look different to most bats on the market, and if they play as well as most Salix's do then that seems like a winner to me!
-
Paul, Any of these on par with my wasp that I got from you last year of response?
All are, Matt, yes, except the lower grade Torques. These are my least favourite of the bunch, incidentally...
-
Supernatural Performance on the right has now been sold. Everything else is still available as of right now...
-
paul no hits hard on web to buy yet.... ;)

Correct, waiting for some photos...
Will sort it soon, but if you, or anyone else, wants to order one of these bats tonight, please PM me instead.
-
Paul how do the HH compare in terms of pick up to the wasps?
-
Loving the grains on the left hand side pod players! Goes right through the toe and up the back of the bat. What weight is that one Paul please, is that the 2.12 one?
-

No, the one on the left is slightly lighter: 2lb 10.8oz to be exact... :)

Good question, Frank. To be honest, I haven't been able to check that yet. Should have an answer for you on Monday.

Lordy Lord! That is some seriously nice willow going on!! :o
I need to go and have a cold shower!! Stunning stock to fill your shelves there Paul...
-
I'm not too far from you Paul so might pop down one lunchtime this week and take a look at these in the flesh. I'm working down my notice period and it's slowly killing me with boredom so this will cheer me up no end! What's the best way to get to you from Waterloo? Tube?

Good to hear, Ian! :)
Bus number 68 is pretty much door to door from Waterloo. Takes 10-15 minutes. The stop is Westmoreland Road, which is the road the shop is on (number 21).

Thanks, Pete - glad you like them! It took Chris and I the best part of a day to find all these bats, so it's great to hear feedback like this to suggest it was time well spent! :)
-
Say I want something special made from salix? Would you be able to organise that? Or be best to go to salix direct?
-
If only I didn't have my heart set on an NV! I can't warrant another bat... Surely?

Everything we get from Salix is special, Chris, so yes, we certainly can organise that!! :D ;)

With respect, Matt, I don't think you'd be on this forum if you only wanted one new bat this year!! ;)

What a salesman! I'll have a long hard look at myself. But with my (lack of) talent, the bat will probably cost me about £3 a run! Haha

Good value that :) you need another bat though mate, can't possibly go into a game without a second.. You've got at least two sets of gloves too right ?? :)
-
The Pod Players on the left has now been sold - thank you, JB! :)
2 down, 15 to go... Who's going to be next to snap one up??? :)
-
Guys, I was lucky enough to be in the shop on Friday when these came in, and they are stunners! No photos can do bats of this quality any justice, although having said that it is nice that Paul's new phone has a far, far better camera then on his old BlackBerry!
As far as the bats go, it is always satisfying to see the bats which we hand picked as part lefts come in to the shop looking so lovely. To recap our day at the Salix factory do give our Facebook page a look. My personal favorite has to be the SLX, I just adore the minimalist styling of the bat, and boy are they good looking as well!
As always with Salix bats they are well pressed and exceptionally well finished, but what I was most impressed with is how the Hits Hard range, despite being cheaper, does not compromise on the pressing or finishing. I also like the American Diner retro styling on these too, and think they are a brilliant option for someone who wants to be part of Salix's great brand without having to fork out as much money as some of the other bats!
-
Looking forward to seeing these tomorrow lunchtime, should brighten up the day :)
-
sounds awesome might have to come down this Friday!
-
Guys, I had a play with all the bats this morning, testing pick-up and mallet response, and I had a few observations:
1. The Torque Players is the most responsive.
2. The Wasp Select is the least responsive.
3. The HitsHard bats are on a par, if not better, than most of the Salix bats (in both pick-up and mallet response)...
Basically the conclusion of my exercise was that the HitsHard bats are really very good indeed. The Salix bats are also very, very good, but I can't get over the quality for the price of these HitsHard bats...
Congratulations to Chris (Soulman), Ben, Andrew and all the others who have worked on this new HH brand! I wasn't massively convinced at first, and wasn't even planning to stock their bats at all, but my mind has well and truly changed now...

Video tour of the range: Video Tour of our New Salix & HitsHard Cricket Bats (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VVjiherpzc#ws)
-
Saw some HitsHard bats in the flesh for the first time today and was surprised at how much I liked them. Photos that I'd previously seen really don't do them justice and the stickers were quality also, impressive stuff.
-
Your video only serves to ask a serious question.
why would you ever by salix if the hits hard are jjust as good but cheaper?
-

Very simply Brand mate. No doubt people will argue and say same quality cheaper etc but that is the same for all brands. Hi-tec trainers do the same job as Nike but plenty of people will by Nike over Hi-tec due to brand.
The overall Aim is that HH need to outsell Salix to use the full willow stock that Andrew has to buy each year to get the amount of true grade one needed to make the Salix range. That's it in a nut shell basically.
-
yes but Nike and hitec aren't made in the same factory by the same expert podshavers.
my salix present at the end if this season. has just turned into a hits hard present. lol

I bet they are made in the same factory. But your right not by a pod shaver :D

What weight are the HH bats?
Got a couple that are 2.8, one in 2.10 and the other is 2.11...
-
I just went in and saw Paul and ended up buying the light blue 2.8 mojo HH. The slx's in stock were absolutely top draw but the HH provide extreme value for money if you ask me. Having tapped up this one I was amazed at the price of £199.99. Left it with Paul to knock in so will do a full review later once I've got the bat.
All I need to do now is convince the missus I've won another bat in a competition ;)

I've used that excuse for almost all my new kit for this year, if I was half as lucky as I claimed to be I'd probably start buying lottery tickets!

All you need is for Paul to produce a video saying you've won it in an Ashes comp.
That's what I did for my new Bubble....
(Only parts of that post may actually be true...)
-
Thanks for your order and post, Ian - good to see you today!
As for you, Steve, that post of yours is completely true... :) That reminds me, we need to knock in your bat too!!

Yes, yes you do. :)

The Hitshard bats are up on our website now: http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/hitshard-m56 (http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/hitshard-m56)
Most of the Salix bats are up now too - will be complete by tomorrow lunchtime.
-
Must admit the HH bats do look like beauties. It was never the stickers that put me off but the initial lettering on the gloves when Chris first posted about them. We all like equipment to match and having hits hard on the knuckles didn't do it for me. If that is changed to HH placed somewhere else on the glove and a similar branding that existed on the current pads then I think this will definitely outsell the Salix range.
-
Giraffe makes a good point.
This hard original inception shows we should never judge a book by it's cover.
The gloves seemed tacky, and name suggested, you thought you was a bruiser to.
But a little down the line, and name doesn't have the same impact for me, and I'd buy a lot of there kit, accept them gloves. There sill chav.
I wonder if hell 4 leather had a similar, "cheesey feeling" start? Yet hh4l is see as a great brand now.

I completely agree and really don't like the look of their gloves. Sadly these gloves haven't seemed to change much in this regard, so we have decided against stocking them, but not everyone wants matching kit! :)
-
I have now uploaded all the Salix bats to our website. This page lists everything we currently have in stock from Salix. Not just bats, but also bags and accessories. Gloves and pads are on the way, too, and should be with us next week...

I completely agree and really don't like the look of their gloves. Sadly these gloves haven't seemed to change much in this regard, so we have decided against stocking them, but not everyone wants matching kit! :)
I'm sure i've seen a picture of this years gloves somewhere and they are alot more subtle than last years design. I think that the hits hard across the knuckles isn't in a contrasting colour like how it was with the red writing.

That's correct, Jon. It is a much lighter colour, but still quite big letters and too garish for my taste.

This years glove is silver and white and in my view a little toned down on last years, personally I like them as the offer great protection and comfort at a great price. I will upload some pics later of the new gloves I have in my kit bag for next season.
Incidentally didn't get a single comment or joke about the knuckle writing, don't think people really notice or actually care

Hits hard to judge fully what's happening with the full range of both, as one has no website yet, and the other has a website that's a year out of date.
For us forumites that's a tad slack. But i appreciate the rest of the cricketing world, probably won't even look at either for a good few months,
(Pun intended)

I'd agree with Paul, while the newer colour scheme looks a lot better the lettering puts me off the gloves. Without it they'd be a really nice pair of gloves - having said that I can see why it's there as it fits with the brand and without it you'd basically have Salixesque gloves with a different name

I liked the ones that said 'LOVE' and 'HATE'
:)

You may be pleasantly surprised by the 2014 range of hitshard pads and gloves !

This afternoon we received our new Salix softs - some lovely batting pads, batting gloves, wicket keeping gloves and wicket keeping pads all here now to match the Salix bats you've just bought! ;) Video reviews will follow within the next few days...
I have just uploaded all of it to our website, as you can see here: http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/salix-m14#c20:c7:c11 (http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/salix-m14#c20:c7:c11)
Please PM me with any queries, cheers!

Softs are at crazy prices these days. Also where are the sausage style? I am sure it is all decent stuff though.

They have some sausage gloves in the range, Matt, but we don't stock them as sausage gloves aren't very popular any more...

Hey Roco, I picked out a pair of Pod one's ( suausage gloves) for my gloves for this season and just breaking them in as I haven't used that type of glove before. im just in the process of wearing them in as they need to get broken in with the flexibility but they aren't that differnet to normal gloves I didn't think
