Dear All
Time to put a date in your diary for the March retailer forum event. This will take place at Glamorgan Cricket, SWALEC Stadium, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff CF11 9XR
on Saturday 1st March at 10.30am till late
The ground is a 15 minute walk approx from the centre of Cardiff and Cardiff station. If you are driving, we should be able to arrange free parking for you.
One of the highlights of the day will be a stadium tour (starting 11.00am) which will include the Welsh cricket museum, the players' changing rooms and the state of the art media centre. To get your commitment to this event, we will need to take a small non-refundable deposit of £5 per person, in order to confirm the tour. It is being specially laid on for forum members and we expect the tour will be conducted by none other than Dr Andrew Hignell, the curator of the museum and Glamorgan scorer ... this covers the cost of the tour for "no shows". Thank you for your understanding on this. However, you will be able to redeem your £5 deposit in the shop :)
Of course, you are welcome to attend the day without going on the tour, so no deposit will be required.
To allow us to plan better, please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to come on the stadium tour.
Thank you!
-
Sounds good mate, whats the plan apres tour etc?
-
Back to the shop, a few snacks, chatting about cricket and looking at equipment. Unfortunately the nets are being used all day.
You will be at the shop before its official launch

Not yet! Glamorgan have a team who do signage, but PM me with your thoughts :)
-
Who's going then
I'll post the list of confirmed people on the OP and maybe people can share lifts if needed
-
Just a reminder that our forum event is only a week away. It would be great to know if anyone would like to book the stadium tour, as we have to give as much notice as possible.
I'm also trying for net availability between 4-6pm. Maybe slightly late for those travelling from afar, but Wales U15's have the indoor school booked for most of the day. Again, if anyone would like a net, please let me know.
Tentative schedule for the day:
10.30-11am arrive
11am stadium tour starts
1pm onwards mingling in the shop, light refreshments
4-6pm nets (to be confirmed if enough interest)
Cardiff is great for shopping if you'd like to bring your partners, and only a 10-15min walk from the stadium
-
I'm up for whatever
-
Stock moving in ...

Really hope we get some more takers for the stadium tour on Saturday ... not often do you get the chance to go round a test match ground for free, into the players' changing rooms, into the state of the art press box, speak to a county scorer ... :)
-

Gary - let me know when you are down this way and we'll meet up

Parking has been arranged for those coming on Saturday.
As you come into Sophia Gardens, you will pass Sport Wales headquarters on your right hand side and their car park on the left. Then you'll see the stadium on your right. Keep going past the stadium over some speed bumps and you'll come to gate 5 on your right hand side.
Enter via gate 5 and park in any space that does not have a reserved name on it
-
Sounds good Arvind.
are we meeting at the shop once we are there?

Yes please. Gate 5 car park is at the back of the pavilion. They should be able to guide you to gate 2 where the shop is ... in fact you'll pass gate 2 on your way to gate 5
-

Arvind,
Do you, or do you have any contacts that do bat refurbs?
Thanks
-
Arvind,
Do you, or do you have any contacts that do bat refurbs?
Thanks
I would normally send them to either Hunts County or Chase who will do refurbs for other brands. You can either send your bat through us or send it directly
Locally here there is FatBats but I'm not sure if they do refurbs
-
Ok no probs, I would of brought it with me tomorrow if you used someone local.
-
depending on where you are traveling from Martin Berrill sports in gloucester might be worth a try. they make a lot of hunts bats.

I will probably do it myself, Just lazy, plus it will cost £105 to send & receive back from laver.
-
Just like to thank Arvind and his team for a great day out. If anyone is likely to be visiting Cardiff then I can highly recommend the stadium tour and obviously his shop for some quality gear.
-
Any pics? It didn't happen without pics.
-
it was a lovely day and i enjoyed the tour and browsing and talking about cricket. thank you Arvind for organising everything.
my dad might be wanting to buy the cricket bat

I didn't take any pics of the bats but the Puma platinum 6000 LE in the first pic was huge with no concaving. Also the 3 adidas st's were huge @2-7 with the middle bat having stunning grains. There was also a fatbats furore which had around 20 straight grains. Also from memory there was a lovely slaz v6.

Hi Arvind,
In Cardiff this coming week-end visiting In laws so I'd thought I would pop into the new shop.
Are you open on Saturday 22nd? and do you have any of the Asics Gel Peake 10/10.5 in stock.
Cheers
-
Really sorry I missed you on Saturday. Had to pick up new specs and then got held up by an accident on the M4! Hope you liked the store and Isabelle looked after you!
-
No problem Arvind,
You have an excellent set up at the SWELEC and the gear you have in stock is first class. As a bonus Isabelle is a delight.
She could have sold me anything but I made do with a pair of shoes and she even managed to sell my wife a Glamorgan CC tote bag!
Hope to meet you next time.
