Title: Visit to Uzi Sports
Post by: Steveo1000 on February 15, 2014, 07:48:20 PM
So, my match bat is an Amplus mark I which is a great bat, but I have been on the look out for mid/high middle net bat for a few months. I came across Uzi Sports Kookaburra thread and spotted what looked like an amazing lower grade 350 Kahuna which fitted the bill perfectly.
Asad was kind enough to put it to one side until I got the opportunity to visit his store to see it in the flesh. I did this earlier in the week so thought I would say a few words about my visit and purchases.

Firstly a few words on Asad. What a lovely bloke who is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about cricket and cricket equipment. He also provided me with a cup of tea and a choc chip biscuit so has friend for life in me!!
His shop is joy to be in and I spent considerably longer than I intended to just browsing and chatting to Asad. The quality of the bats is something that needs to be seen to be believed. I recommend anyone within a reasonable distance of his shop to pop along and have a look.

Anyway, on to the purchases.

Gray Nicolls Legend Pads

Always wanted some, used them today for the first time in nets and they are the best pads I have ever used. I guess at the price they should be!

Kahuna 350

For not much over £100 I reckon this is the best looking low end bat I have ever seen. It tapped up well too!
If this had a much higher grade sticker on it I don't think anyone would have questioned it. It is a few years old, but I actually prefer the non flat face design, so win win for me. Could even end up as my match bat!!!

It was mate. What I intended to be a 15 min visit turned into about an hour. Amazing how quickly time goes when you are surrounded by cricket bats and talking about cricket!!

Seriously, Kookaburra MUST grade on performance only.

Look at that 350! Put Players stickers on that and no-one would argue with you - It's quite incredible!

Thing is, this bat tapped up really well with a ball and mallet.

That's an amazing Kook 350 mate! On looks alone, it would put a fair few of this season's £300+ bats to shame...

I'm with you in regards to the face being of the radiused type, rather than flat! Great score, mate! Well done!

Thanks for your visit Steve, it was pleasure meeting you. I am glad you are happy with your shopping and thank you for admiring the quality of equipment we carry. Hopefully we will get more customers from your area. I was quite impressed with your knowledge of cricket and always happy to share my little knowledge of the cricket equipment.
