Title: Bats on Ebay! Please read!
Post by: musama91 on October 06, 2009, 07:35:58 PM
Please read this ebay listing (better pics near bottom as well) and tell me if you think this is English willow and if so, what grade and finally if you think it is worth a punt.

If you will do the poll that will also be appreciated. Use one vote for English/Not English willow and one for the grade of the bats shown.

Thanks

i have messaged them asking for pictures of a 2.9 bat with 8-12 grains and a slightly low middle. Will upload pics once/if they are sent for yuor opinions. Personally, I think the bats are g1/g2

grade 3 or lower - the bats has a huge looking knot or stain on the back of it meaning it cannot be any higher than grade 3. It may however qualify as an indian/pakistani grade 1 with the appropriate application of massive stickers.

If it didn't have that knot, would it be g1?

I think they may very well be blank Ihsans - lower grade, and they will have very poor handles.

Hi there, I have got one of these it is, as expected, a grade 3 bat (actually 2lbs7, on my kitchen scales). I am pretty sure it is English willow at least!!

I ordered it before I saw this website. Given the bargains you can get here, I really wouldn't bother. Mine will end up in my village cricket club kit bag, if if makes it through pre season nets, or unless I get a offer on it at the nets.

I would leave some appropriate feedback on eBay for the seller ... "finest EW" should not equate to grade 3-4.  We also have a shop on eBay and sellers like the one you've experienced make our job that much more difficult.

If you're after low grade EW I have a number of bats starting from £25.

You are right of course, I should have left some slightly negative feedback - well actually I shouldn't have bought it, but that is another stroy. I have been pretty lucky with some of the bats I have bought in the past, so am relaxed. I think that this one I will give this one to my next door neighbours 15 year old, who is just starting out - surprisingly it has a decent grip (a copy of the G&M half feather half normal style) and a slightly oval handle which hopefully will help him.

I am interested to know what a £25 bat looks like - not sure I'll be buying one though. I still have a lovely Ice sub Zero in my bag which I haven't really knocked in properly yet, even though I bought it a year ago.
