Title: Indoor matting
Post by: frooper11 on February 18, 2014, 04:30:45 PM
Afternoon all,

My brother has bought my 8 year old nephew a Bola for the garage (yes, I know, why he can't just make do with the lawn and a dustbin I don't know, he has just been accepted to Worcs CC Academy so is actually half handy), his current setup is firing the balls into the garage from outside and batting against the back wall. This however does not accurately replicate bounce.

Does anyone know of any suitable matting we could get hold of or a suitable alternative?

(N.B. not sure whether this post is in the correct area of the forum, admin, please feel free to move it...)

Cheers

Morrant will sell you a coconut matting pitch for £555...

might be bit over the top though...

This is basically the same set up that we use at the batoff "Barn" - the matting used at the barn is old astroturf from a ripped up hockey pitch - so look around for a hockey pitch near you that is being relayed.

failing that you could try the matting use in indoor halls.

Could be worth getting some carpet offcuts and seeing what the bounce is like on them. Might be a cheaper and easier alternative?

Cheers gents.

The carpet off cuts is sounding like the best option so far  :)

Only really need a couple of metres worth, at the moment the bounce is quite rubbish.
