So on the weekend I got into double digits for losing the toss.
First game of the year, won the toss, batted and destroyed the opposition.
Since that game, I have now lost the toss 10 times on the trot! 9 out of those 10 we have been asked to bowl first, except on the weekend we were put in - and won by 138 runs. However from 10 lost tosses have managed to win 10 in a row so I'm not too concerned :)
Anyone else having a wretched run at the coin toss? To be honest I'd rather keep losing it if a win is going to be the result!

Yep, a couple of years back I went seven losses on the bounce, ended up sending someone else to do the toss....they won.
-
My Captain from Winter a couple of seasons ago insisted on calling "heads" at every toss: he lost 17 straight! :(
-
Are you referring to yourself in the 3rd person again??
-
Perhaps you should write to Alastair Cook and ask for tips... Oh wait.
-
Always heads!!
had a season where we won the toss twice (home and away) the games where we won the toss were ones the captain was away!
-
Yeah Im away this weekend so no doubt they will probably win the toss!
Haha no way I would talk to Cook! For one I'm Australian, and secondly, we definitely went to different schools when it comes to captaincy. I am ridiculously attacking.

My team last year won the toss every game through the whole season, which resulted in us missing out on a lot of bonus points available for when you lose the toss !!
Not Good !
-
Bonus points for losing the toss....really?!?!?!?!

I'd call landing on it's edge every time!

Nowadays, with our friendlies the team which has less players when we begin the game is forced to win the toss and elect to bat :D

if it's a friendly.. capts should be honest and say 'we have a strong team' or 'we have a cack team'... good team bats first so at least if the others are skittled it makes a game of it.. only if they really do turn out to be cack... don't go smashing 300 odd against them.. a nice 230-250 for 9 is plenty good enough.. aka, retire on 50 batsmen :)

I can't believe nobody has said this yet....
You're obviously a useless (No Swearing Please)!
Sorry, couldn't resist :-[

Haha, believe me my teammates have started calling me much worse this year, especially when we bowl first every week!

I was simply referring to you inability to toss effectively, can imagine what you get called by your team mates having to field first week on week though haha!

I agree.. the problem is retiring batsmen. Its getting difficult to get all opportunities in friendlies what with a lot of players turning up. So folks just dont want to retire :(

Yeah I completely agree with this. We played a team last year who you knew just by looking at them were utterly useless. We had played them earlier in the season, batted first and ended up winning the game by about 180 runs. This time they won the toss and elected to bat. Our skipper said are you sure, we have a fairly strong team out to which their skipper replied 'yeah, we don't want to be the team that just turns up and chases for 40 odd overs and then bats for a draw.' To which our Skipper replied 'Well if you want this fixture again next season, you should probably rethink that statement.'
We rolled them for 48 and the game was over within 3 hours. Luckily it rained so we didn't have to play a beer match. I think we have dropped them for this season.

The last friendly this year the oppo did this. So on e we got them 6/7 down and the kids were batting we just fed them runs.. Well, I did. My brief was 'go at 12 an over'. I bowled pies, moved all my fielders to slip, gully and the off side and preceded to bowl soooo ww full tosses, long hops. I had one man on the leg side, deep backward square leg! And he took two catches as they couldn't even miss one fielder :(
Still, couple of their crap kids got 50's and we had 200 ish to chase which at least ensured our lads got a bat.
