Title: A return to the traditional style......Or not?
Post by: Cowcorner on February 21, 2014, 09:55:01 PM
Well, as part of our glorious Ashes defeat I have had a resurgence of my patriotism and along with it I have gone back to a cleaner and more traditional look to my kit for the upcoming season:
GN Legend Gloves
GN Legend pads (purchase imminent forum advice dependent)
Black Cat primary
GN Ashes/GM Icon secondary match bat
Last season I looked like a Christmas tree on acid with kookaburra kit and bats with luminous grips! So my question is will you gentlemen be wandering to the crease like a Twenty20 pro or looking like a chap from an era when 'Garage' was something you put your car in?

P.S. Although I've just purchased a puma bat that bad boy will be save for twenty20 matches when it'd be rude not to have a bit of show and go!

Well I believe traditional is better however giving the fact I got given some pro kook kahuna pads, I seemed to purchase some kahuna players gloves from the sports direct sale to match - so will probably look somewhat like a Christmas tree that you describe  :-[

Also purchased some GM Original LE Gloves from Buzz, also can I just add the Stretton fox guards I recieved from George are amazing!!!! - finally got them to mould to a skin tight fit (this required a lot of bending, being tuff and time with the guards) got hit on them more than I would have liked tonight and didn't feel a thing. One of the lads called Sean Tindale who is by no means slow pinned me twice and they were spot on...go ahead and buy some!
Also got given some Crown pads tonight so they will probably get sprayed black or green for T20's

Looks like I will be a Xmas tree as well. Bright green puma pulse shoes and puma pulse gloves. Couldn't find any of the bright pulse pads anywhere so got some shamrock puma-esque pads. Just need that pulse bat off you  ;) to complete the look

My fusion kit is mostly all white save for a bit of silver bling on my pads beneath the knee roll. Although the stickers on my bat are in your face! :o

For a fat, bright colour-loving fool - I actually like my softs as plain as possible. I've gone right off super blingy colours.

I think, if you play at the remedial level that I do, and you have fluoro kit on, you are asking for abuse. I have some old second hand Salix softs, which are nicely understated.

Yeah I've got my beady eye on the GN legend gloves to go along with my legend pads. I had a Gray Nicolls Oblivion as my match bat last year but it has delaminated and over the winter I stupidly went down to Newbery and purchased a Mjolnir. I'm definitely buying another GN next time from one of our lovely sponsors.

I really want all my kit to match and be as plain as possible. I play timed cricket and one of our boys has a GN bat with T20 stickers plastered all over it. Makes me shake my head every time I see him go out to bat when we've still got the best part of four hours of the match left.

The legend gloves are excellent and very comfortable. I know a couple of people have described them as bulky but I think they're quite thin for the level of protection they offer.

I guess i like a bat like the gn legend and gloves i have to go for a tradiditional saussage style but pads are completley different - I saw some puma kinetics and i loved them so im more of a t20 guy when it comes to pads but helmet i go for a the ultimate classic albion in steel grill
