Title: Pietersen BBL Bound
Post by: 13th Man on February 23, 2014, 02:13:17 AM
Been surfing this W/E, just home and caught the end of the sport news saying Pietersen  :D will be playing for the Stars but as a consequence Hodge  :( off to the Sixers.

Any of this in the UK media?

Not really mate, we had the up roar once he was binned off with the line of how much money he can/will make but that's about it. Coverage of BBL is minimal here (the games are live).

I did read a few weeks ago how the BBL authorities were planning to break the wage ceiling to ensure he plays - with part of his fee coming from endorsements / image rights etc. any fees mentioned in the Aussie media?

I think he's going to be a real draw card, I just hope he performs! He was disappointing in the Ashes.

I think KP draws a love hate relationship from the crowd?

I think we'll see more of KP playing in all the various t20 leagues he can get into.  Nice little earner for him without taking up too much of his time

Damn right he should.  He's been binned by England, whether that is right or not, there is no reason to play in a cold, damp English summer when he could earn bucket loads more for playing a dozen games lasting 2-3 hours a day in some reasonable warm climate.

IPL and BBL definitely, the others wherever he can too.  He still has a good few years left in him so why not.

The BBL has just finished for this season, hasn't it?  I bet there will be a lot more advertisement next season if he is involved.

Could argue that signing someone like KP would make it more attractive to the English fans and also India where he has a pretty decent following

Agree. With this. He has no reason and nothing to prove playing county cricket or even one dayers. 5-6 years on the T20 circuit will do him nicely

Nothing on cric info, or the big bash site. Or his twitter. Where he has announced the others along side official press conferences.

He has signed for Delhi in ipl, surrey on all for, ats(when available for no t20, whatever that means), and know the bbl apparently.

He has turned down the carribean t20 tournament, as it clashes with uk commitments.

South Africans ram slam is same time as big bash.

That just leaves Bangladesh premier and nz if he wants it.

KP could put an ad on Gumtree "Have bat will travel"

Shall we just assume he will play every T20 tournament until England has new management and they come begging?
