So it was a warm up game today.
Top four made the runs.
Wright 36
Hales 28
Stokes 58
Root 104*
Morgan 7
Buttler 5
Bopara 12
Bresnan 17
Jordan 8
Broad. 2*
Tredwell dnb
So new batting line up. Stokes made runs at 3, root at 4.
No lumb and wright opening, does this mean that they've told wright to go and make opening spot his for the t20 World Cup? In domestic t20s it's were he excels so not sure why we have him at 3.
Although no one fired after root, it is a strong line up with 7 batsmen, is the balance right? 3 bowlers and 4 allrounders?

For me :D
Bopara out and Willey/another slow bowler in.
Bresnan out and Carberry(for next 12 months)
I think we need an opener who plays that position week in week out.
We have enough bowlers with Wright/Root/Stokes to be the 5th bowler. I would also make sure that Jordan and Willey practice Yorkers as their stop ball. Darren Gough use to practice them every day and look how successful he was.

Carberry
Hales
Wright
Root
Stokes
Morgan
Butler
Willey
Broad
Tredwell
Jordan
If we got down to last 15 overs and only a few wickets down then I would put Stokes, Morgan and Butler ahead of Root.
This is the 50 over side only.

I'm not sure Stokes convinces as a ODi bowler - I seem to remember he's pretty expensive.

Horses for courses Fattus. If slow wickets then Wright and Root can be the 5th bowler but on quick bouncy wickets then Stokes comes into his own. also in his defence I would say that stokes has only been bowling properly these last 12 months. Before that he was because of his age and unfortunate injuries didn't bowl many overs however when he was fully fit, Durham then gave him more overs.

Carberry is neither in the West Indies or in the World Cup squad. So until after that's not a choice.
Tbh I'm just glad dernbach hasn't played.

Dernbach doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the England squad!

I wasn't aware of that :o another strange decision from the selectors. To be honest Willey is not fully fit but I still included him as I aM looking towards the world cup for next year and not just this tour. That's why I put that it was my 50 over side and not 20/20 ;)

It is strange, Carberry has had plentt of success in domestic t20 with Hampshire, but doesn't get a look in for England.
The odi squad at mo is the t20 squad in training for the World Cup. So that's probably why he has been left out.
Same for cook among others.

In my opinion one day cricket has been the major downfall of Cook and Trott. Go back 2/3 years when both had their own solid way of playing. If it wasn't in a particular area then both players left the ball alone and forced bowlers to bowl to their strengths.
You look at the way both players got out in test matches within the last 12 months. Mostly playing shots that they have only been playing because of their involvement in one day cricket. Cook couldn't even get in the one day side at Essex to begin with. Of course he has made some good scores BUT you would expect that as he is a good player. However for me he is not a natural like AB or KP and therefore his test form has suffered.
