I do like ali as a batsman not sure how much his bowling will contribute though, but I watched him in a few county games and could hold an end

Interesting approach using a batsman who bowls off spin to open the bowling

So at 45 for 4

Are the windies poor?

Or are England really in a new age with there 3ptonged spin attack??

Currently for me, the former!

Pakistan do it all the time with Mo Hafeez. Also, lots of WI pitches are puddings these days.

It shows that the England team have thought about things.

On that pitch why did England not give 35 overs to the three spinners and Ravi.  Then mix up the last 15 between Broad, Bresnan, Jordan and Stokes?!

Things went wrong at the end,

Root one to many overs(bowled well before though)

Broad a few too less.

And why can't we bowl Yorkers? Does no team practise them anymore.

Anyone else noticed how Ravi Rampaul has ballooned in size?

Brilliant come back by West Indies. Maybe England should have spent less time arguing over wides at the death.

Looks like a good score, maybe West Indies are a spinner short.
Surprised narine didn't open the bowling, particularly for lumb who can't play spin

For us non Poms, whats happened with your team? Cook gone? who's the coach? any other new faces. This left handed Amla looks good.

Team is merely the squad for the world t20. So people that dont normally play odi are in the squad hales lumb wright etc

And why cook is not here(hes odi cap but does not play t20)

Moenn ali the leftie is new to it all.

Giles is in charge who has been for a while in limited overs.

Cook rested.  Giles in as coach on a temp basis with Collingwood as his assistant for fixed term.

Lumb in, people know enough about him.

Mooen Ali - Classy batsman, technically sound.  Decent offy too, gives it some revs for a part timer.

I love Moeen, even though he always smashes Glos, and do a bit more knowing he tucks his socks into his strides, just like a clubbie. :)

Bit confused, why is Lumb in over Hales (Although he seems to be justifying it) and where's Morgan  ????

thought for the day - why do England need nine bowlers in their side?  Surely they could do with one less to get another hitter in?

They would have gone Hales over Wright maybe?

I'm sure we'd complain that we don't have enough part timers otherwise, just to be English.

Wicket had fallen before he has a great change of pace and can push it through if he wants.

Resourceful cricketer

We can sit here and slag off easily, but how do you not know GILES/broad haven't said "go and pinch hit, up the run rate, if you fail never mind, you'll get another chance next game"

You wouldn't have though pinch hit from here Chris but i know what you mean.

It's not an isolated incident though. Luke wright's main issue is letting his bowling fall away so much. If he could bowl 7/8 overs and bat seven, then that would make him a much better proposition.

One thing I will say is hardly anyone appeared to have a clue how to play Narine.

England failed from about 35overs in both innings.

We bowls dire in the final overs.

We have thrown wickets away in the power play, and them shown our inability to strike a ball in the later overs.

Last 2 at the wicket yes the wicket is a pudding but that is poor

How is bresnan in this team given his performances in the last 2 months?
Can't bat, bowling at the death is poor.

Root can't bat that slow and let the rate go up. Rather see a proper batsman at 3 rather than a slogger whose not worthy of international cricket, bopara should be at 3 since he's not a finisher.

Had West Indies had a 2nd spinner don't think England would have got close.

Bressielad has a good team ethic!! Can't fire him..

What excuses has Giles come out with?  Let's hear them then.. Luck? Wasn't our day? Sun wasn't shinning? #blameKP maybe?

:)

Do not like England losing but if it gets rid of Giles and Cook as capt then I'd rather they lose and they go quickly

Bresnan had the best bowling figures. 3 wickets and got less tap than some (rpo).

For those who want Bresnan dropped, fine, get Dernbach back in, as that is your options.

Only person with a higher rpo was Jordan.
So not like bresnan had a brilliant game. Don't think 6.8rpo is something to write home about.
More time spent arguing with the umps on wides than bowling properly.

His performances in the last 2/3 months have all been poor

Can't quite believe how easily we managed to chuck that away given the start  :(.

Wonder who vice-captain was for that match given the lack of experience in the team? Bopara?
