Afternoon all,
This morning I unwrapped my late Christmas present to myself - two new bats. (Pics below)
When I had them made, I asked the bat maker to leave their stickers off the bat. As I am sure you can tell from what I am saying, both are custom to my specs.
You do not get any clues BUT I will say that;
1. They have come from a well known brand to this forum
2. Both are custom - but the bat shapes may give you a slight clue to one of them
3. Both grips are generic - I specifically ask for white on all my bats so they are no help
4. Both have oval handles

They are made by TK going by the toe guards
-
I think they are made by Gary at choice who is a top pod shaver
-
Not TK. I would say they Look like Larsons.
-
Easy peasy this one. I won't ruin it for other guessers though.
-
H4L or BlankBats or Bulldog
-
Not Bulldog. Look Indian made. Nice bats by the looks of it.
-
A well known brand as well as a forum sponsor ?
-
I will narrow it down slightly more;
5. They are NOT CNC made
6. They have a 'British' bat moisture content... (In other words, made in the UK)
-
Hunts?
-
BlankBats
-
Shoulders look hunts made
-
Salix or black cat cricket
-
shoulders and toe guard say Hunts County to me
-
BB or Aldred?
-
Judging by the slightly uneven shoulders on Bat 1 - gonna say Hunts.
-
Whoever they are NICE :)
-
Hunts!
Merely going on two things,
One vitas said it was easy
And two. Vitas then liked toms post that mentioned hunts.
-
The style of grips and toe guard seem to be similar to those used by Hunts.
-
Hammer??

I think it is interesting the opinions of people... Plus how nerdy some of us are in noticing the little quirks about batmakers.
Yes, they are Hunts County.
I had them made to the shape of my two of my three favourite bats - BC Joker Extreme and M&H Amplus (Other being the Newbery Mjolnir).
Bat 1 - Joker Extreme Shape
2lb12oz
9 grains
Oval Handle
40mm Edges
60mm Spine
Minimal Concaving
As some of you know, I smashed my BC Joker Extreme into three pieces just before Xmas (Batting like a t***) - I had a few great offers but Hunts agreed to make me a grade 1 for a bargain so took them up on the offer.
NB. I have no idea why the outside edge is slightly shorter - Speaking to Jake, it is not a shape Hunts ever get asked to make so probably a production issue, but apart from the eagle-eyed amongst us, not really noticeable.
Bat 2 - M&H Amplus Shape
2lb10oz
12 grains
Oval Handle
36mm Edges
58mm Spine
No Concaving
This bat literally is immense - was really impressed when I removed it from the box. I have always wanted a Hunts County, but as a kid, the pricing was right up there with Newbery etc. Never had a problem with Hunts County, but like most kids - I just preferred the Newbery stickers... And playing for Berkshire, all the kids were rich, private school Charlie's so was just Newbery, with their bohemian looks and style.
Overall...
I would like to say, the service I got from Steve and Matt at Hunts County was as good as anyone I have ever had bats from before. Really nice guys, a well run outfit and put up with me changing my mind (and specs) on a daily basis.
Very rarely (Only from John @ Red Ink) have I experienced a brand who gives you what you actually ask for. I asked for 12 grains, got 12 grains. Asked for heartwood on the outside edge, got heartwood... The list goes on.
I REALLY wish they would just sort out their marketing (Advertising, Branding etc) though as they really are the sleeping giant of the cricket world. I feel they are missing out on loads of lovely revenue.

I think you'll find that I was the master bat-spotting genius!
-
Those are two lovely bats
I would have guessed blank bats
Enjoy your new bats
May be we should have a bat counter for all the members next to their id

That, my friend is the best idea on here - ever.

Never had a bad bat from Hunts. They really make some quality bats there.
Had a monster 3lb+ that put fear into bowlers (untill they worked out I was holding it)
-
Awesome bats. The background in the pics looks familiar. GingerBusiness,do you sell bats on ebay by any chance?

I do. My eBay name is PJHcricket.
I am currently selling my 'life' on there right now as moving house pretty soon - cricket stuff is surpassed by a random collection of things I have picked up over the years!
-
Salix or black cat cricket
No toe guards on Salix bats mate well not as standard any way judging by the quality of the finish in photos I would say Gary Sandford.
