Hello all,
I am looking to buy a bat this season and am debating between Lekka,Hammer Beserker ST or Woodstock Tour de Force XL. Which one would be your choice?
-
Some may be from the same source. If you are in the UK it may be wise not to source the bat from too far afield.

You can get a custom bat for the price of those - made to your specs.
Speak to some of the forum sponsors - I'd start with John @ Red Ink. Always helped me out in my times of batting-need! :)
-
Hammer :)
Not used any of them but I like the look of the hammer more than the others but that said there are nicer bats to be had from guys on here.
-
For me I'd contact the forum sponsors (manufacturers and retailers) to discuss the shape and budget you have. The retailers hand pick their bats and not once has anyone been disappointed with a bat they have ordered from them. The sponsors who make the bats themselves are very highly regarded on here and are only too happy to answer any question or request you might have!
I certainly don't look much further than here when I'm looking for new kit!
-
Whichever is cheapest from those 3!
If I had to pick it would be the Woodstock, having owned one and it was a decent bat.
Lekka - never dealt with but doesn't have the best reputation.
Hammer - bats cover a lot of air miles which inflates the price.
Woodstock - UK made (not necessarily by who claims to apparently but that's a different discussion)
-
Either Hammer Beserker ST or Woodstock Tour de Force XL
Have heard mixed reviews about Woodstock - may be its only about their customer service
Hammer ST is a very good bat.
-
Lekka are a strange company.
Most I've seen are dogs. Some are good looking, all apparently go! I have one, it goes and is half decent in looks.
Dude is apparently funny to deal with.
Hammer, I have one but not a berserker, and mine is Indian made, I'm still very impressed though,
Woodstock, never dealt with them, but "it's just cricket" on here sell Woodstock, and I've dealt with them and they are spot on! So get it from them.

Paul @ IJC can provide a great pre & post buying service for Hammer, and if I am right he had some good Woodstock bats as well. Lekka's reputation hasn't been the best, though have heard good things about their bats.
-
bulldog had a brilliant looking butterfly bat for about 90 on Twitter earlier. that would be an awesome option.

I was very tempted to dm Kieron about that bat!!
-
Ive seen a few woodstocks up close all look decent bits of willow, but thought they had heavy pickups for the size

I am in the US so I can get it from cricketstoreonline.com

Looking at the responses I have eliminated Lekka so it's going to be Hammer or Woodstock. It's such a coincidence that I went to my first nets of the season and one of guys bought a Hammer Vapen. He said it weighed about 2.12 with 2 grips but it really felt like 2.8 or 2.9. It looked and felt amazing.

I checked IJC and they had only a Woodstock Festival in stock (atleast on their website) and nothing else.

Old Vapen was NZ made (we all know by whom) if I am right and was pretty expensive as well, now I guess they are made in UK.

As Paul @IJC is a forum sponsor here you can easily approach him by pm'ing him, though not sure if he handpicks Hammer but for Woodstock he surely does (as would be other sponsors here).

Ijc has just pocked up his stock from Woodstock. So he's probably just not updated the site yet!
Send him a message on here.

My point still stands mate, made in the UK then shipped to the USA to be stickered. Hammer bats get their fair share of air miles.
-
Slightly off topic
Was told Hammer are arranging for there UK manufactured bats to have the graphics applied to in the UK.
-
I've o experience of Lekka, but Woodstock and Hammer are red herrings.
For that money you can go fully custom and have more say about the cleft and how the bat should fit you, and not the other way around.
Not saying the retailers here can't do that. I know first hand that Paul @IJC offers excellent service and hand picks bats. I've no direct experience of the other retailers but their reviews are worth reading for piece of mind.
Keep your money tucked away until you've spoken to Paul Aldred, Matt @H4L (two whom I have used and would recommend all the time) and the other makers who gain great reviews.
Choice! You've never had it so good. Confused? Of course, we all are (in varying ways and levels).
Have fun and make it an enjoyable process.
-
I would also recommend trying Affinity as it would fall in the same price range. I know there are plenty of other options as well.
-
Have heard very mixed reviews of woodstock and hammer bats seem good but are a lot as people are saying and yeh h4l would not be a bad shout

We aren't stocking Woodstock again, so what you see (on our website) is what you get. Different story with Hammer...
Please PM if you want to discuss.
-
Hammer one hundred per cent in terms of quality and your stateside so why not
Blank bats have a new load of bats I would check in with them as well

Wow .. How can we get the insider news on that :)
I hope what ever happened was not that bad

That's disappointing. The Airstream I got from you goes like a rocket, was going to ask about softs.
-
I wanted to keep stocking them, but the decision was, effectively, out of my hands. No more public discussion about this matter, though.

Thank for all your thoughts and inputs guys. Sometimes having plenty of choices doesn't help ;)
