Title: BB Gold Review
Post by: ca_gold on March 11, 2014, 08:44:09 PM
Thought I'd put a quick review of my new BB Gold. To say I am well pleased would be a huge understatement. I can't thank the boys at BB enough for this SPECIAL piece of willow. BB Gold models are normally saved for bigger clefts that come in lighter weights. This bat, ungripped comes in at 2.7 on the scales and has approx 40 MM edges. It picks up like a dream, has minimal concaving, and a very aggressive sub-contenential profile. The value for money you get at BB is absolutely amazing. Off the mallet and initial ping tests show great promise. I am VERY excited to see this once it's fully knocked.  This is my second BB (first one is reviewed here http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=17895.0 (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=17895.0)) so I have full faith in their bats. The guys are a pleasure to deal with and their customer service is second to none. They pick great willow and having experienced BB bats previously, I had no hesitation in trusting Tai to pick a beauty for me this time. I will let the pictures do the talking. Will update this thread once I'm done throughly knocking and a few net sessions.

Looks like a proper cricket bat .... Why pay £450 for a bat when you can buy this?

I'm with you on that one! Shame they only offer Grade 1 bats as I'd definitely be keen if they offered lower grade clefts....can't justify a large outlay to the wife!

Lovely bat. Lack of stickers allows BB to leave an extra ounce or so of wood which is quite bit in terms of volume especially for an oversized cleft.

That's 2'7 with no grip, so 2'8-2'9 in reality. As mentioned above, the bat also carries very little stickering, allowing more of the final weight to be willow.

Not taking anything away from what is still an impressive bat with some of my favourite branding on the market.

Put a team member in contact and I think he's getting one, can't wait to see it, I'm not a fan of stickers so the brand suits me nicely.

Looks a fabulous shape and the stickers are really growing on me. What sort of price are we looking at for a bat like this.

Best looking bat I have seen on this forum for a long time...

When people talk of pro bats this is what one looks like top class bat.
